FT: 1995 Warwick Fortress One - Wenge

Sign in to disble this ad
I just took this in this bass in trade. Here is the previous thread:

1995 Warwick Fortress One..German.. all-wenge neck.......almost new condition!

It is a fantastic bass and extremely well made. However, I'm starting to realize that I'm not really into active basses. You can defeat the active circuit by toggling the volume knob but this also defeats the tone knobs. It has a wide tonal palette but I'm not convinced that I have much use for most of them.

The bass came to me with no case but I've since realized that it fits into case that came with my fender deluxe precision. The case is missing a latch (the latch parts are in the case pocket and could be reassembled) but it still closes well.

I may have an interested buyer should I decide to sell it but am somewhat curious what sort of trade offers I might get.

Here are some additional pics:

Very mild thumb wear and thumbnail marks above neck pickup (only visible using oblique lighting)

Shows how difficult it is to see the wear under normal conditions

This pic illustrates a tiny chip out of the fretboard

A small ding on the back of the upper horn

A small circular ding along the lower edge.

The missing latch.......

This one used to be mine. Looks better in person then in the pics (if that's possible) and plays/looks just as nice. Doug is beyond cool to deal with, as well. If you're looking for a Warwick (or a P/J for that matter) this is the one you want!

Thanks for the kind words, Eric. As you stated, it is a great sounding bass. I'm just not totally convinced that it sounds like me.

PM's replied to.

Thanks! It is a beaut. A friend came over the other day and was quickly able to switch from one style of music to another in a convincing fashion and they all sounded great. I just don't really play those styles of music (not by choice, I'm just not very talented)

I received an email asking what sort of trades I might be interested in. My interest in basses mirrors my "less is more" playing style. I tend to favor fretted fours but did just sell my one and only fretless. However, please feel free to offer anything as I might surprise you.

My ideal trade would likely be a Lakland skyline glaub.......it would be like having another precision...but different.

OK, perhaps trying to sell a bass around the holidays wasn't the best idea. I've now had two buyers express interest but then state that they can't free up the money right now.

With the most recent buyer, we got as far as agreeing on a price so I guess I'll offer that price up to anyone else as well. He was going to pay $730 (which was essentially $700 plus half of shipping). Anyone?

I've received a couple more trade offers. While both were very tempting, I couldn't bring myself to accept either. However, with each offer, I'm starting to better realize my trade interests.

Yesterday, I traded an amp I wasn't planning on trading and suddenly find myself with too many cabs. So, I might consider an amp in trade. I've also been accumlating pro audio gear and might consider trading for that sort of stuff.

I just sold both my jazzes as I rarely played either. Additional bass interests would be (but not limited to) a 51 precision RI, a PJ precision, or possibly a fretless........

As a previous owner (Sub bought it from the kid I sold it to), I concur w/ Subsector in that it is nicer than it looks in the pics....it's nicer than 90% of the new stuff hanging in any music store. Most of what's seen in the pics is really hard to see in person without really looking. It really is a beautiful bass and plays just as nice as it looks. If it weren't for some unforeseen expenses, I never would've parted with it. And the French Violet color just kills!
