FT: 1998 Fender American Deluxe Jazz Trans Red with Barts!

A fine MIA J deluxe that's FT Only right now: I like Fenders, G&L's, oly white, tort guards, pastels, matching headstocks, P/J settups, Pedulla Raptures (+ cash from me). I don't much care for sunburst or J/J settups, unless its a Rapture or a 2008 or newer oly white MIA j bass. Of course, its all + or - a little cash from me as appropriate to the bass trade being discussed.

Good: Great tone, the new barts sound really deep and snappy, no dents or dings in the body that I can see. Fairly lightweight (under 9 lbs) beautiful figured rosewood board. Electronics are all in great shape. Just had a tech replace the crapped out Mid pot with a new Fender OEM pot specific to this bass that I had to special order.

The slightly less good: some fine swirls, smudges and scratches in the paint, you see em if you're up close. control plate has some hazing that could probably be polished out with some elbow grease, couple of dings at the end of the headstock that you can see in the photos. small area of light buckle rash also visible in photos. and as is the case with just about EVERY Fender of this era that I've owned, there is some fret buzz in the highest registers (above 17th fret), (I set my action as low or lower than fender factory specs though, so if you don't require super low action then this probably won't be an issue). A $50 fret crown/level job on these upper frets would fix the issue.

I don't have the OHSC, but will ship in an inexpensive Levy's gig bag, well wrapped with bubble wrap and plenty of packing materials.

bump, just a note, I may have a local deal with a fellow Charleston bassist on this and he is borrowing the bass at the moment. If any amazing offers come up though I will certainly consider them.

Hey there my friend! One of the pickups was dead, so rather than try to find a match I just had those barts installed. You might be surprised how snappy these sound. Stop by and try it out.

Hey Mel. Not a big fan of j/j pickup configurations. But thanks for the offer.
