Comes with a hardshell case and all case candy that's visible in the photos. No damage that I've seen. Apparently those are the original Fender straplocks, though I am unfamiliar with them and can't vouch for that. The original owner's name was stenciled on the case. He scribbled it out before selling it to me - never got the chance to stop him. Other than that, there's the white stripe which is just loose plaster from my wall that I haven't taken the time to brush off.
Other than that, this bass has received maybe a few hours of playing time and been stored in its case as long as I've had it. The only modification I performed was to remove the plastic on the pickguard. Kind of wish I hadn't now. In transit between my previous home and here, one of the latches managed to get pretty sticky. It opens and the spring functions just fine now, but I don't know if I really want to try locking it again.
Why am I getting rid of it?
I'm just not playing it. It's a beautiful instrument and my favorite long scale to play, but I just can't justify keeping it around any longer when it's really just sitting in its case.
What am I looking for?
Short scale instruments. I'm looking to trade up or down, but I'm specifically interested in Gretchs, early-model Les Paul basses, Coronado IIs, Starfires, JetStar IIs, M-85s, Rob Allen or Landing or Birdsong or Stambaugh would be just fine too!
I'd certainly consider any Rickenbackers as well.
Basically, let me know what you've got with scale length between 30 and 33.75 inches and we'll talk, though I'm not really in the market for EB or SG-series instruments at the moment. Unfortunately I don't have a spare $5000, so unless you really want to send your SC signature Alembic to a new home where it will be well cared for, it probably won't do either of us much good to offer one.
Will I sell it outright?
Yes, that's what I'm looking to do now. Price dropped to
$1000 (PayPal) plus about $75 shipping to the US. Well worth it in the end!
One last very important thing:
I am a US servicemember. I live in a perfectly normal apartment in a perfectly normal city that happens to be in Italy. The instrument would have to be shipped USPS, unless you're willing to pick up the (impressive) tab for courier service. It will take more or less of two weeks to arrive.
That being said, I've received eight basses, one amp and one 12" speaker at my APO address and know the tendencies of APO delivery. All of that fourteen to fifteen-thousand dollars-worth of equipment arrived in perfect condition. The instrument will be double-boxed on top of the case and insured as much as I can up to the value paid. I've heard that there's a new limit, but have received fully-insured shipments since that are in excess... so it may not apply, I do not know.
Now also available for €750 plus shipping in the European classifieds.
Thanks for taking the time to read through and comment!
