FT: '60's Hagstrom H1B

Sign in to disble this ad
i'd like to trade my '60's hagstrom H1B for an H2B or other vintage hagstrom in like condition.

the H1B is red, with black neck/ headstock.
electronics work, neck is straight. frets in good shape.
the plastic top or "swimming pool" as it is referred to is in exceptional condition. there is a chip in the nut on the e side,
but enough left that it doesn't effect the string.
one thing missing is the vinyl wrap on the back...
it was removed or came off before the bass came to me.
this could easily be replaced by an automotive/ vinyl upholsterer....
i'm considering having it done and will be checking on the price.
bass comes in original case, which is missing the handle.
it's a player, feels and sounds excellent. comes strung with t.i. jazz flats.
i prefer the wood bodies so i can put on a modern bridge for intonation... thus my search...
i string these piccolo and use open tunings.
these have become quite popular in the collectors market as of late,
but once again, i'm looking for another player... so cosmetics aren't as much of an issue as having a straight neck and decent frets.
will also consider other trade offers,
looking for a mesa walkabout head as well.
feel free to run anything by me, worst i can do say is no.
more pics coming....

Drop us a line when you land an HII and mount the bridge? I play an HII and am ready to stick a real, functioning bridge on it and would love to hear how it works out for you/ how it improves the bass. Thanks!

cash i would consider after getting the vinyl replaced...
working on that. will post an asking price when ready, still looking for a trade.
here is a pic of a hagstrom with single bridge saddles.
it was tough to line up, as you can see, the neck/ pups don't line up very well (well, not at all really) on the bass... odd neck pocket fit (at least it's tight and doesn't move). once done, it vastly improves sustain and now actually stays in tune. it is a bit brighter in tone as well. the bridges, however, are at max height, so i need to think about a shim under them...it wouldn't take much, a couple washers would actually do it in a pinch... although i'd like more contact with the body:
