I'm home one day post-op, in pain, half-stoned, and looking forward to a follow-up procedure tomorrow. I'm also bored as all get-out so I thought I'd do a little house cleaning.
I listed this particular bass several months earlier but withdrew the thread after I encountered a problem with pickup output. Turns out I had mis-adjusted an internal trim pot (d'oh!) so all is now well. Here's the rest of the dope.
This is a really nice MIJ Bossa OB-5 in great playing condition. Cosmetically, its not so great and shows the usual player wear you'd expect...I'd give it a 7.5 / 10. Now, the details:
*34" scale 3 piece maple neck with separate maple FB, 25 frets.
*Separate maple veneer cap on headstock.
*Hipshot tuners installed by your's truly!
*Brass nut.
*Truss rod accessible at headstock.
*Two piece ash body, nicely grained, satin finish (not as durable as nitro or poly).
*Two proprietary quilt maple covered pickups. Sharp lookin'!
*Proprietary Bossa preamp with internal trim pots for individual pickup output and midrange control center freq.
*Controls - vol, balance, bass, mid, treble.
*Bossa proprietary bridge. Practical, sturdy, and stable!
*Dunlop strap pins.
*Hardshell case in okay condition.
*Weight - ~9 lbs and very well balanced.
Sorry, no close-ups of the body but there are wear patterns under the G string near the neck pup (popping) and thumb wear on the upper aspect of the bridge pup. I can get addt'l shots as necessary but you have to wait a few days (refer: health history above). Overall, a great playing & sounding bass. Phenomenal B string response in a 34" scale package.
I'm always on the lookout for a nice lightweight (<9 lbs), well-balanced 5 banger. I'm normally not a big fan of imports but some of the MIJ / MIK stuff has really caught my eye recently. As always, some cash +/- for the right trade. Please PM me with any questions, offers, etc. I may be a bit slow in responding so please be patient.
