FS/FT Custom 4 fretless and SX BG-205 Fretless 3TS - lots of pics

Sign in to disble this ad
I am playing more five string lately so I have a four string fretless and possibly a SX BG-205 Fretless 3TS for trade or sale. I am interested in 5 strings fretted or fretless.

Custom 4 string fretless
bass: 44" long
body: 19" x 12" x 1 3/4"
nice top figured top

neck: 34" scale
width at nut: 1 3/4"
width at body: 2 1/2"
depth: 1"
5 piece laminate through the body

2 Diesel soap bars
Bartolini NTMB preamp
Series/parallel/single coil switch for the bridge pickup
vol, bal, treble, mid, bass

This bass plays pretty well. You can get a range of tones out it from growl to woody. The neck is a little wide and big for me, more like a Precision. I traded another TBer for this bass last year. I just end up laying more five string these days.

Price $400 without shipping open to offers.

SX BG-205 Fretless 3TS
neck: 34" scale
width at nut: 1 3/4"
width at body: 2 7/8"
string spacing 2 3/4"

2 passive single coil soapbars
vo, vol, tone

I just received this one from another TBer. I am still thinking about this one. The string spaceing works well for me. But the the body is pretty light. Lighter than my guitars and basses.

The headstock finish matches the body. There are some smal chips around teh neck pickup and some wear on back but very minimal. The bass was well taken care off. It has a fairly new set of Ken Smith roundwound stings. It could use a setup but it still plays well now.

Price $125 without shipping. I am open to offers.

You posted 'FT/FS.'

Edit your title. Or post a price. If you do not post a price in a for sale thread the Classified Mods will delete your thread as it violates the posted rules all of us have to follow.

I will need to look at the bass when I get home. I will try and contact the first owner to see if the exact woods are know. The neck looks like mahogany and maple. The top is a figured dark wood.

I messaged the first owner. He thinks the woods are purpleheart, maple, and walnut which sounds right. I do think the top is a different though.

I traded this bass to mr sprocket and the woods used for it are indeed walnut top and wenge, maple and purpleheart laminates. The neck is wenge and the fingerboard is pau ferro. I purchased the body/neck off ebay and had a qualified luthier to all the finish work. This is a nice bass and has a very "warwick" like fretless tone; very woody and growly. The pickups are "Diesel" brand dual coil and are similar to Basslines in tone, the preamp is a Bart NTMB. The playability is very good but, as mr sprocket said, the neck is a little on the fat side. The overall size, I believe, contributes to some of the tone and in the stability of this neck.
Consider this a long winded best of luck bump.

I would also like to add that mr sprocket is a stand up guy and good to do business with.
