FT Feeler... '58 P-Bass Heavy Relic

Sign in to disble this ad
Here we have a super nice '58 P-Bass relic. The bass was Relic'd by Alan Knight from the UK. Here's a link to some of his work... http://www.myspace.com/bigal024.

I think it was originally built for Reggie Pearce. Feb 1998 Alder body, Maple neck. here's an email from Alan in response to my inquiry about the bass...

"Hi Larry
You must have bought this from Reggie Pearce?
Fender/Squire licenced neck
Hand rolled fingerboard edges
Tusq nut
Finished in Nitro
Gotoh reverse tuners
Alder body as dated
4 ply nitro T/shell guard
Fender Vintage bridge
Pups not too sure now
could be Kent Armstrong or '62 RI's
If you need anything built let me know
Al"

I've talked to a previous owner and he tells me that this bass rivals a Nash and will go toe-to-toe in playability & Tone. That's a good sign. I've never played a Nash, but I heard they were awesome relics.

There ya go. It has a '58 decal but looks to be a '62 body like Jamerson's. This is a feeler to see what's out there, as I REALLY LOVE this tone but, as I said before I traded my Dbl-P for it... I NEED A NECK WITH A 1-1/2" NUT.

I was told this had a 1-1/2 nut, but it's 1-5/8. I can get used to it, but like I said, whats out there???

My relic is valued at $750.00

Shoot all offers by me. 4 stringers with a 1-1/2" nut and any amps worthy.

More detailed pics upon request.

Bump for a really cool relic job. If I didn't already have 3 P-Basses, this one would be heading to Seattle!

Hey, thx for the good words, TGG. It really is a cool bass, and the tone/playability/action are Spot-On!! Right up there with my '76 P-Bass... Hmmm, maybe even better. I'm taking both to my gig tonight and I'll get some feedback from the band and the crowd.

Hey thats my old P-bass that I bought from Reggie a long while ago. It was my #2 P-bass for a long time. It has Fender 62RI pick ups in it. I was told when I bought the bass, by Reggie, that its a neck from a Fender.

I thought it was too nice to be a "Licensed Fender". The pup leads are not cloth, so they may be the kent Armstrong as described by Alan Knight. yea, GE, she's a sweetheart and my #2. Would be my #1 FOR SURE if it had a jazz profile neck... But it is very close. Much better than a 1-3/4 baseball bat, lol.
Lots of PM's and sweet offers. This is gonna be a hard decision.

This was mine for a bit, and I regret letting it go. The sound, and the playability...wow. The grass isn't always greener, folks. Someone snatch it up before Hawk comes to his senses (I obviously didn't).
