FT FEELER: Darkstar'ed fenderbird

Sign in to disble this ad

I'm not sure if this will get traded or not, and I'm pretty sure I don't want to outright sell this, but I'm going to throw this out in the ring. Darkstar fenderbird. Has MIJ 51'p maple neck, shoreline gold body. I put some Chromes on it and it's really great. I'm just wanting something with some better upper fret access and 5 strings. Comes with an epiphone hardshell case. There is a ding that you can see above the bride, but otherwise in great shape. Has ultralights and straplocks.

Interests:
Laklands
EBMM (preferably SLO or sterlings)
I'm cool with unlined fretless or fretted.
Possibly a Jack Cassady.
Possibly a G&L 2500 (not blue or cherry burst, Please)
Also Gibson grabber or ripper would be cool too.
I'm really not sure that I'm going to trade it, but feel free to send something my way. I'm not in a position to add cash, but I would trade down if it works. Not really interested in Fenders, but if you have something (probably a 5 string MIA jazz has the best bet) the worst I could do is say no. I'll try to take more pics later on, especially if there is great interest

I love thunderbirds, but because I'm not in a band, my wife insists on me keeping only one bass (not that I disagree totally). I've been playing a bunch of noisey/ jazzy/ chordy stuff, and it's hard to play up on the fretboard. I'll definitely buy a darstarred bass or put on into something again, but probably not this body shape. If someone wanted to trade for a DS'd p bass, I'd be down. I kind of feel like J. Crawford. Got the bass that I thought would be my perfect bass, to be slightly disenfranchised with it after getting it.

I assume p bass width 1.75". I can measure for sure tonight, but I'm doubtful it's anything but that.

Any interest in a Gibson Bass V plus cash?

I think the MIJ '51 P bass necks are all 1 5/8" at the nut

IS this a bass V or a flying v, upon googleing?

They look like this - T-Bird PUs, upper fret access, set neck, 5 strings.

Poopie indeed. At least mine is slightly involved in body shape, not tone. And I've been gassing for a lakland ever since I played a bunch of them in chicago.

why dont you just sell the body and replace that? it'll be much cheaper and you know you'll love it.

I'm not crazy about the neck either, especially around the heel. I thought about it, but it's a hard sell being that the body is routed for a darstar, and there's no pickguard available to cover up if you wanted to put something else in it.

Makes me sad. My hands just can't handle that big of a neck. Otherwise, I'd be offering all sorts of trade bait.
