TRADED
Doing this is a bit embarrassing because I just nabbed this beauty from AndyMan (who is, by the way, a great guy to deal with here on TB). This is indisputably the sweetest JO4 I've ever played; the rosewood neck/ash body combo produces a super sweet/thick/nuanced tone that I haven't really heard coming from any 60s or 70s J.
It's just been strung with a fresh set of Osborn flats. It's light (just under 9lbs). It's gorgeous (and I just got a tortoise guard for it from Jeannie's, which really adds to the look if you aren't into the black guard - picks up soon). It's minty fresh w/ OHSC. It plays effortlessly. Great bass!
So why am I putting this winner up for trade? Well, I just started up with another band and it's, well, really loud and fast (kind of a change of pace for me since I'm used to playing slow and low). Had our first rehearsal today and I really feel like the Joe's luscious and delicate tone is kind of wasted on the overall grind of the band. Don't get me wrong, the Joe can get the job done (especially with rounds). It's just that I would really like to step up to the mix with a J or P "on steroids" kinda sound so that I can crank the lows and highs. I refuse to change anything about this bass.
In a trade I'm looking specifically for a Sadowsky and will entertain the prospect of most varieties (J's, P's, etc). Basses with nordy fat stacks/big singles are really intriguing to me too. I know there are a host of beasts out there (nordies, lull's, AC's, Valenti's etc..), so just let me know what you got and we can try to make a deal. I'm not in a rush because I love playing this bass and, like I said, can probably make it fit the bill. Still, had a UV70 a while back and I'm pretty sure something like it would be a better fit for what I'm doing. Might consider an outright sale later, but for now am just looking for the right swap.
Thanks for checking this out.
