FT "Feeler" Only: 1975 Carl Thompson

This is just a very light FT feeler for my 1975 Carl Thompson…want to see if anything sparks my interest....I will more than likely keep this bass, I really do love it. I am just a typical (or atypical) bass player that gets curious, and I haven’t bought or traded a bass in long time by my standards (months). This post may be up for a very short time

Also – pics are from my Blackberry, I can get better shots, bass is very clean for its age.

The basics…
- Body is either walnut or mahogany, slim jazz bass type of shape and very light (haven’t weighed but guess 8lbs or less)
- Maple neck with ebony board and ebony nut
- Control cavity cover and headstock cover look like zebrawood, but not 100% positive

Some improvement work I had professionally done…

- Had the original Schallers P/U’s removed and had Bill Lawrence P/U’s added (MAJOR improvement). I also had custom P/U rings made so it looks much cleaner than it originally did. I have all original P/U’s still
- Replaced all pots and switches (kept original knobs). The 2 lower switches are single/off/humbucker for each P/U, the other switch is a mute switch. Knobs are V/V/T. Bass is all passive.
- Full set-up so frets are cleanly dressed, polished, etc
- Using the original CT tailpiece through the BadAss bridge. Really cool, the little bit of extra string tension is very nice, tone is super punchy
- Essentially original bass with new, updated electronics (the Schallers didn’t do this bass justice, I think they were just old and not working great anymore)

What I would “prefer” trade wise….I don’t really know which is why this is just a “loose” feeler and I am not selling it outright

In general would prefer the following, but not set in stone
- 4 strings
- Passive
- Older or unique basses
- Thinner neck profiles

From a value perspective would guess this is worth $3K+ IMHO (especially with the work I had done) so ideally trades would line up accordingly. Not looking for a lower priced bass + cash either, this is my main bass so would only trade for another bass I would make my main instrument.

PM with any questions. Thanks Adam
