FT feeler Skjold LP5 PJ. Beautiful!

I seriously dig this bass and am not in any hurry to offload it, just curious to see what comes up.

As far as I know, this bass is a one off that was done when Pete was in Texas. The flame job was done at a bike shop down the road from his shop, originally done for TB'er BikerForHim. I'd say you probably can't get another one like it but I'm sure Pete would prove me wrong.

3 Piece Maple neck with graphite reinforcement. 34" scale and 18mm spacing. The neck has a fairly flat profile and is quite fast. The fretboard is morado with 21 frets. The LP body cutaway provides killer access to the 21st fret.

The body is poplar which I've come to like the evenness of. Not as zingy as ash but I think it lets the electronics speak for themselves a bit more. The Skjold club could add more insight.

Pickups are a Skjold C4 neck pickup with a switch that allows you to switch between a P configuration and a reverse P configuration. Surprisingly handy and adds color to your tone that you just can't get from EQ. Also a Skjold designed bridge soap bar which adds definition and a nice thick bridge tone to the huge sounding C4 pickup. This is a crazy awesome P/J setup.

Electronics are Skjold/East circuit as follows: Volume , pan , tone w/ active passive switch stacked B/T bright switch on treble control and semi parametric stacked Mid. Crazy versatile EQ, I can't think of a tone I couldn't get with this thing. I have come to love and appreciate the simplicity of a passive bass but with the C4 pickup switch this bass is a tone tweakers dream.

The bass is in very good condition, the face is immaculate. There is a small scratch in the upper horn on the rear which I tried to picture. There is also a small chip out of the finish in the face of the headstock on the left side just above the nut. I received the bass that way. It's a finish defect and doesn't effect the wood or black finish below it. It is kind of ugly on such a gorgeous bass but not a huge deal.

I'm looking for something in the realm of a NYC Sadowsky, USA Spector, MTD or maybe an Alleva Coppolo. I really dig this bass so I'm going to be picky. I can add a bit of cash if necessary. Not really looking for trades +cash as I don't want to trade down. Again, this is a one off Skjold ( not fair, they really all are) and anyone who has played one can attest that Skjold basses ooze quality.

May consider a 2 for 1 trade

Anyhoo, for the Pron...

Just an FYI, The scale length is 35". I now do 34". One other thing to consider is this is one of the first LP basses I made and has a slightly wider nut spacing than what I use now. I believe it is just under 2" but maybe Ben can Confirm. I wouldn't want someone grabbing this and not being aware of that.

Thanks Pete! There you have it 35" scale on this one and strung with a fresh set of DR Low Riders.

Again, I'm pretty set in terms of what I'd like to see for a trade; I do really like this bass.

This is my old bass I will be first to say the only bass I truly hated to get rid of! Outside of loyalty to my current company and having some history with my bass that made it to Cali, Alaska and back to me I Love this Bass! killer. It's the bass pictured in my profile pic! I may have a vid I can post gigging with this baby! Every tone imaginable and that's NO LIE!!!

I own 2 Skjolds, including a Lion's Pride (LP) - these are amazing basses!

Take the plunge! The water's fine with this builder!

Will sell outright for $2800+shipping. Not sure what fair market value is on these but that doesn't seem unreasonable. Still primarily looking to trade

oh man... This bass is a monster (in a good way.) Pete did his normal amazing job and added a little magic. If I was still playing regular I would have never gotten rid of it.

Good luck on the sale, and congrats to whoever ends up with it.

Updated. May consider a 2 for 1 trade for the Skjold. A 4 and 5 string would be cool. MusicMan, Sadowsky Metro, USA Fender, Modulus ect.

This bass can indeed do gooey and buttery or bright and in your face. I'll be taking it to rehearsal tonight, we'll see, it may stay.
