Hello,
I recently aquired this beautiful bass as a trade, and its in inmaculate condition. It is the top of the line Yamaha Neckthrough bass with Piezos. 6 string with amazing Bubinga top.(see pics below)
The tone of this bass is thick and snappy (Jazzy Fenderish sound)with lots of sustain and a great B string.the Slap sound its very very good!
Very versatile bass that can cover any style of music.
I truly love this bass, but I would like to get a feel of what's out there as well.
I am manily interested in 6 stringers wide spacing.
In case you are wondering what this bass sounds like, I am putting up a couple of links of other bass players,to demonstrate the sound in a live or studio scenario. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzIxyKSzdP0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP561...eature=related
(Nick Fyffe is using a TRB5PII same top) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9vJAnv0188
(TRB6PII bubinga top) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOtITa_6B24
TRB6PII maple top (I have also played the maple top and there is no difference if anything on both tops, very thin tops)
Custom Yamaha Hardcase included
See pics here of actual bass: http://s925.photobucket.com/albums/a...PII%20Bubinga/

it cut through extremely well, the tone is deep, aggressive and yet snappy for slaps....
I am having second thoughts about letting this baby go.....
more to come... |

can you compare this one with the TRB6JPII
string spacing 18mm? a little narrower than the TRB6JPII?...

sorry man, but I forgot to update this thread, the bass was sold already, but to answer your question, I think they both sound very different.
I found the 6PII had a beefier sound, meatier, and an incredible overall balance on all strings across the board. maybe because of the neckthrough contruction,
not to mention the sustain....
I find the JP2 to be more focus on the high end, eventhough it has a fantastic B string, but the 6PII response from all strings was thicker, it can be compared to a single coil pickups sound (6PII) and humbucker sound (JP2)
the slap on both basses is fantastic.
string spacing its wider on the JP2, at 19mm and the 6PII its 18mm.
honestly, it took me a couple of days, to fully adjust to the narrower spacing, so I didnt find it a problem.
also, the 6PII probably weights a bit more than the JP2
hope that helps
