FT: Fender 50th Anniversary Precision Bass - Butterscotch

They made a small number of these in 2001 and they were very hard to find. I had to special order mine and it has been my number one for years. Easily the best off the rack Precision I have played in 20 some years. I can take some more photos later but below shows what the bass looks like. Mine is 100% original with the OHSC, certificate, all hang tags, plus the truss rod tool. Pretty much everything that came with it. There is one small ding in the finish on the back of the bass but other than that it is in fantastic condition for playing 10 years of rock music. Frets are in great condition and the neck is straight. It sounds fantastic and is complete with the special items. These don't come up alot and often they are missing the certs or tweed case.

I am looking for a 62 Reissue Precision in sunburst. The older the RI the better. I will accept an older one with more wear. The last complete Anniversary bass I saw sell was for around $1250 so that is where I would value this bass. The only other colors I will consider are Olympic, LPB or fiesta in that order. I don't want to sell out right or trade for any other bass. I will consider a newer reissue plus cash but anything mid-90's and earlier preferred.

Thanks!

Got a few questions about this bass in regards to specs. I will post some stuff from Fender below. Essentially these were MIA Precisions with a special finish, anondized black guard, tweed case and engraved neckplate. The neck also has a vintage tinted finish on it. As far as I can tell there was less than 500 made although I have never heard a final number from Fender. From the reviews and my experience it sure seems that Fender might have hand picked some stuff on these or taken special care in production as they always get rave reviews.

As far as the trade while sunburst is number one I would put Olympic or LPB on par. Newer ones are still fine but a 90's model would be great too. This is a fantastic bass and I would not want to trade it for just anything. I will try to post photos tonight or tomorrow.

This bass should sell in 1 second. It is identical to my go-to gig bass that I got from Quad almost a year ago. Fender got something seriously right with this model.

Good luck bump - from way out here in Lancaster! Wish I had the time and $$ to visit and pick yours up for my back-up.

This bass is my white whale. Sure you don't want a Ric?

I really miss not having a 62 reissue around so that is my main goal. If anyone knows where I can buy a good one than I will happily sell this one and buy the reissue. All I see right now on TB is the black one. I have had a few emails inquiring a purchase though so there might be a line if I decide to sell. But if anyone sees a good 62 RI in sunburst, LPB or Olympic please let me know and this might end up for sale instead of trade.

Arranger >> I love Lancaster and go there all the time.

I see you love vintage bicycles - Soo,... speaking of trades, I have a 1974 Frejus in all Campy Super Record in gorgeous shape that I'd part with for your bass...
