After about 5-6 year hiatus, I recently decided to pick my bass(es) back up and start playing again. Right out of the gate, I decide to start shuffling the deck little bit and add/subtract some of the basses in my collection. Well I got this beauty a couple of weeks ago in a trade, and after a little bit soul-searching, I think it's time to find this one a more appropriate home. Why? Plain and simple, I'm not a 5-string guy. I've tried before. It didn't take. I thought I would try again. Still didn't take. At the end of the day, the only reason I've been keeping it is because it's gorgeous, but it needs to go somewhere it will be played.
So, what we have here is a EBMM Stingray 5 HH in Honeyburst with a maple board. It was traded to me a "new" bass -- which is essentially true -- but according to the serial # it looks to date to about 2007. This thing is pristine; it looks like it was bought and then just kept in the case. I'm not entirely sure its even ever had a string change. Bass will come with original hard case as well. And the thing plays as well as it looks: buttery smooth, low action. . . perfect.
I will sell the bass outright for $1300, but would much prefer to workout a trade since I'll likely just be putting that money back towards another bass (or two) anyway.
In terms of trades, here's what I'm looking for:
I'm looking for nice P or J basses. I don't currently own a Precision-style bass, so my preference would probably lean towards a P. It can be old, it can be new, it can be a +/- $ money trade.
**Must be a 4 string**
Probably looking for a Fender, but will certainly consider P or J-inspired pieces from other builders (Lakland, etc).
I want a player, I don't want to trade into something that I feel like I have to put into a display case. I know this is subjective, but if you're throwing me a bunch of gold hardware, crazy woods, and mother-of-pearl pickguards, I'm probably going to pass.
Also, I'm open to a multi-bass trades. I'd much rather you through in an extra MIM Jazz than I would and extra $300 or whatever.
I'm going to try to be fairly open. The only absolute is that it has to be a four string. Other than that, PM me and let's see what ya got!
Sorry about the cell phone pics, I can't find my nicer camera, but will keep looking. In the meantime, this should give you some idea.
