FT/FS Nordy vJ5 Cherry Burst Quilt Top Maple FB

FT/FS Nordy vJ5 #205 (preferably a trade)

I am a little reluctant to do this, but I am coming to the terms with the fact that I am a Rosewood Fingerboard and 60s pickup position kind of jazz guy. I bought this bass new from Nordstrand in May and it has served me well. It looks amazing and sounds even better.

This bass is your quintessential 70s jazz. I had never owned a 70s jazz and I always wanted to. I has a strong, supportive low end and a great top end. It can do the Marcus thing really well and can get mellower tones with the passive tone. The bridge pickup really barks on this thing. The neck is to die for...I actually like it better than an old Lakland 5 that I had...and that is saying something.

I changed the pickups from nj5 70s wind to nj5s. I play in some clubs with notoriously bad wiring and I needed quieter pickups. I will include the originals with this. I also changed the bridge from a Hipshot Vintage to a Hipshot B style. I have one of these on an MTD and I just like the feel of a higher mass bridge. I will include the original bridge, also.

This bass features:

Ash Body with Cherry Burst Finish
Maple Neck and Fingerboard with white binding and white Pearloid inlays
70s pickup positions with nj5s pickups (nj5 70s wind included)
Nordstrand 2 Band EQ with passive tone and active/passive pull pot
Hipshot B style bridge (Hipshot Vintage included)
34"
9.25lbs

The only flaws are: A tiny bump on the headstock courtesy of a cymbal (I will attach pictures) and a few minute finish scratches that I can't get to show up on camera.

Sorry for the crappy photos...my camera's shutter won't open so I had to use a phone. That is why I am including a picture taken by Nordstrand (http://www.nordstrandguitars.com/images/205_big.jpg). Let me know if there is anything else you want me to take a pic of.

I would prefer a trade. I am looking for an active jazz 5 with a Rosewood FB, 60s pickup positions and 3/4" bridge spacing...ideally a straight trade for another Nordstrand with these specs. I would also be interested in a Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo, Lakland (would even consider a 55-94), or something of the sort (+/- money where applicable).

This bass would cost $3,750 before the pickup upgrade and the 10% price hike at Nordstrand in the fall. I would like to get $2,900 shipped and insured for an outright sale.

Thanks,
Aaron

Finally, here is a shot of the back and a shot of the whole bass (the Nordstrand picture is much more representative of the instrument).

I played this bass a number of times at the shop. Even though it wasn't my thing, I loved it. A beautiful bass that playes like butter. Someone's gonna be very happy with this.

Bass is on its way to NY. It is a great axe and I will miss it. Now on to finding a nice 60s style...
