FT/FS Smith CRV5 Modified

Sign in to disble this ad
Smith CRV modified with a 18volt Pensa pre-amp (think Pensa-Suhr and John Suhr) vol, vol, bass, treble with dummy switch in 5th position. Pensa preamps are wide-band pres - you are covering more of the frequency spectrum compared with narrow-band pres. Not in any hurry to sell since I just got a BSR5GN. Wood is maple/mahogony/maple with pauo-ferro finger board. Bass is in great condition with no belt buckle rash and smoke free home. Always played in smoke free rooms, no clubs. No nicks or scratches except minor finger nail surface swirl under G-string in slapping area. Bass in about 9 yrs old. If you need other angles I can provide with my crappy camera LOL. Price is $1,850 OBO plus shipping. I will throw in the original Smith 9volt pre that came with the bass. Hard case and original case candy. 18mm spacing. Here is a link to a review I did:http://www.bgra.net/2004/review.php?id=1931&type=bass

Will trade for other quality 5 with cool wood combos and 34" scale. Prefer NT. Would love a Stammie (no 33" scale).

Here's the link you want:

To post pictures to the thread, copy the "Direct Link" from the drop-down that appears when you hover over the picture and put it between an (or you can click "Go Advanced below the text area to get some buttons that help). The direct link should look something like this (http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/S7300493.jpg)

Nice bass!!

Apologies if this is a dumb question but what is the difference between a a CRV and something like a BSR?

I'm viewing on a BlackBerry so it's very slow to search!

String spacing

String spacing looks wide on the photos. Is it 18mm or 19mm?

19mm. I have a bsr5gn and the crv is wider than bsr...easier for slapping.

Ooooof!

I'd be all over this bass if it'd had walnut facings! Beautiful as is though!

The spacing on all Smith basses are 19mm for 4-string, 18mm for 5 & 6 string basses, unless you pay more for a wide neck 5 or 6, and I am sure it was not offered when the CRV models were in production. I owned 35 Smiths in the past 15 years, two were wide neck 5-strings and you pay a pretty penny for the change.
