This is my Stealth Bongo -- it's been my main player for about 3 years now and it has been one heck of a companion. Anyone who has a passing acquaintance with my posts here knows how highly I think of the Bongo. I've often referred to it as
"A Nuclear Cruise Missile of Tone" and I stand by that -- it's one heck of an instrument.
Unfortunately, my needs have changed a bit
(I joined a band) and I need a specific kind of tone and vibe and I've decided to see if I can get there.
This bass is in great playing condition. The neck is straight, the electronics are quiet, the knobs are smooth, and tone is impeccable. Because however, this bass has been through the wars and back, it does have some cosmetic blemishes -- all of which I've detailed below.
Bass Overview Photos:
Blemishes:
I had a bad encounter with a stand and it scratched the back of the neck at about the 12th fret. (The disk you see is a quarter.) You can barely feel the scratches but they are there. I've spoken to my luther about sanding the back of the neck down to the wood and coating it with gunstock oil but we haven't gotten around to doing it. In the meantime, I touched it up with a Sharpie.
This happens to every Bongo. It's the nature of the beast.
This is a short scratch that happened somewhere along the way.
This is a tiny ding on the side of the neck at the third fret.
What I Want:
I would like to trade the bass straight up for a Peavey Cirrus 5. Failing that, I'll accept $800 cash (+ $40 shipping) -- via PayPal. Bongos usually sell for much more than that but I'm making allowances for the cosmetic issues. The bass will include the original MusicMan hard shell case. Its been newly strung with Ernie Ball Slinkies and it weighs 9.5lbs.
Send me a PM.
