Well, I tried out a Music Man Stingray 4HH SLO last week and absolutely loved it so I'm putting out a trade feeler...
I have a very sweet G&L L2000, trans red over ash with a six-bolt maple Jazz-width neck (think #8 but not sure) and currently strung with D'Addario XL170s. You might recognize this as Ben King's Ol' Red (in fact, the photo I'm posting is originally his but I can take additional photos if you wish). Includes original G&L molded case with case candy and an extra set of strings. I'd prefer to trade for the following: - Stingray Classic Series (I'll add cash to the deal)
- Stingray 2-EQ
- Stingray 4HH
Trades must be less than 9.5 lbs. (9 lbs. 8 oz.) and preference will be given to basses weighing less than 9 lbs.
Two more pics from the previous, previous owner - recognize the wood floor??
I'd really prefer the trade, so I'll wait to see if there's any EBMM interest before selling. That being said, the sale price will be $850 Paypal & UPS Ground shipping CONUS included. To those of you already on my "if you decide to sell" list, thanks for your patience.

I'd prefer to trade for a MusicMan Stingray 4HH Slo Special. The perfect SLO would be black cherry burst and have an ebony fingerboard with a weight of less than 9.5 lbs, but I'll consider other finish combos.

Another shot of neck joint showing lack of fretwear and flame - obviously, I'm not a slapper!
Nut, flame, fret - I do like my action low:
Back of body - it's two-piece ash as far as I can tell:

| | | | Sound-wise, what do you like about the Stingray that the L2000 can't do? |
06-01-2010, 09:22 AM
| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jul 2002 Location: Roanoke Rapids, NC, USA | | | It's not so much the tone - I really think I just have wanderlust and the EBMM Ray 4HH offered at least as much flexibility as the L2000, maybe more. I can't afford a Rick and a P and a J and a Ray and ... you get the picture. There aren't many basses out there that can wear many hats. The L2000 is one and the 'Ray 4HH is another.
Also, while the L2K has a jazz-width neck, it's a bit chunky front-to-back when compared to my MIM Jazz fretless (which I prefer). The Slo Special neck was very similar to my Jazz and that is why I was really attracted to it. Then after trying a few 'Rays with standard necks I was shocked that they, too, were now fairly slim front-to-back and was surprisingly comfy - I'd remembered them being chunky the last few times I'd tried them. Since Slo Specials are relatively hard to come by, I decided to expand the trade possibilities to standard-neck Ray 4HHs.

You can also get decent Jazz (passive, both pups in series) and Pbass (passive, neck pup in parallel) tones but they all have a G&L flavor of sorts. Personally, I like it and I'll be happy to hold on to this particular L2K if the right 'Ray doesn't come along.
I'm going to give this about a week more looking for trades before contacting those interested in outright sale.

While considering the offer, however, I've decided to be open to Stingray HS or Sterling HH or HS trades as well and a Stingray HH Slo Special is still top of the heap!
