FT/FS: USA Peavey Millenium Plus 5

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys..

Up for grabs is a beautiful USA Peavey Millenium Plus 5. I got this about a week ago with hopes to revive my 5 string chops (the last time I owned a 5 was in '99 ). I have decided that I am a 4 string guy at heart. So I offer this to you. This bass has great action, and the MM/J pickups combined with the coveted Millenium preamp have tons of growl and punch. The plus adds a translucent finish and a flame top. All in all, a beautifull bass. It comes with the Peavey molded hardcase and an extra set of Dunlop Trujillo strings.

For trades, ideally I would love to trade for a USA Peavey Millenium Plus 4 or a Lakland Skyline 44-02 Deluxe. I am open to other trades, but please, no Fenders.

Cash price would be $750 Shipped

Hit me up with any questions.

Nice looking bass. Curious if you or anyone knows how the neck compares in width and profile to the USA Cirrus which I am familiar with.

Nice Milly. I've got an awesome Milli Plus I could possibly trade. I was playing some 5ers the other day and think It's about time to step up. I would only consider another Milli.
PM SENT!
Thanks.

PM Replied...

BassicJack: The neck is very comparable to a Cirrus. I have a Peavey Cirrus 4 w/ the Clario Walnut top, and this neck feels similar. The difference is the Milleniums were bolt on necks, vs the neck-thru of the Cirrus. I think they addopted the neck profile when they switched to the Bolt-on Cirrus line.

I don't know, I got rid of my Cirrus because the necks were so different. The Cirrus necks feel much fatter and thicker to me, the Mill's are so thin that people with little hands like me like them more. Also, due to the body shape and locations of the strap locks, the Cirrus basses sit way out more. The first fret on a Cirrus is 1.5+" farther away. This has driven me nuts for years as I always played both cirrus and mills, but finally had to concede it drove me nuts and sold the Cirrus. Now I look at where the horn strap lock on a bass physically lines up with the 12th fret. On the Cirrus, it's way behind the 12th, on a Mill, it's right on it. Same 35" scale, totally different feel when worn with a strap.

But if I had the cash, I might jump on this one and swap out the neck for one of my all maple basses.

I agree with synterx. I think the necks on my Cirrus and Mill are pretty different. The Mill neck is very much like a Lakland neck. The Cirrus neck is unique and unlike any other bass I've tried.

And while off topic I know, the Millenniums just don't feel "quite" as well made as the Cirrus. Don't know why, my Cirrus always felt a notch higher in overall feel. That said, all I play now are the us millenniums because they physically fit me better. I was hoping the bolt on Cirrus models were equal in dimensions to the mills, but they aren't, same straplock/fret location.

I had the same red Plus as this, only with a maple neck. Man I'd love to have that back.

I am clearly an ignorant Phillistine, but I don't notice any difference in build quality between my Mill Plus 5 and my Cirrus 5 (now sold) and Cirrus 6.

Really? Wow, totally noticed it here. I had my Cirrus for 10 years, and had 6 different ones, new and used since, and 9 US Millenniums.

Oh well, it's funny how we all see this stuff differently.

This...

Hand shapes are unique. I know alot of people who love the Jbass, but I find them uncomfortable. That being said, I can see where the Mill's would offer a different feel to the Cirrus, but I always thought it was just a Neck-thru vs Bolt-on thing.

Glad to see some good interest, now keep those trades coming!

Appreciate all the input and appologize for taking your for sale thread into a discussion on comparisons of the Millenium and Cirrus designs. Perhaps I could ask my question differently. Can you tell me what the width is at the nut on your Millenium vs the Cirrus. I traded my Cirrus 5 off because I found the width uncomfortable, yet I have 2 Cirrus US 4 strings that are a delight. Perhaps if you don't have the Cirrus dimension, someone else could jump in. I think it was more the width than the profile of the neck that caused the problem. Thanks

1.8 inch nut width.

My 5 string mills feel narrower than my 5 string Cirrus did. That combined with the neck shape led me to ditch the Cirrus. Might have been in my head though, I never measured anything.

No Problem, Jack... Knowledge is power. Looks like Asp asnwered the Nut width question. As for the feel, the Mill 5 definatly feels slightly slimmer than a Cirrus 5, but the width and spacing seems the same (I too, LOVE my Cirrus 4... I think I am going to be buried with that thing )
