FT : Ibanez Affirma AFR 105

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, I'm trading my very rare Ibanez AFFIRMA 105 in VG conditions (let's say 8/10).
Extremely sought after (1000 copies only) collection item with saman body & matching headstock with a beautiful wood grain.
"This series was designed by Swiss luthier, Rolf Spuler. His design incorporates a neck that extends half-way through the body with individual bridges for each string. There is a thumb slot, a pearl/abalone AFR insignia, and a pearl block with Ibanez and the serial number inscriptions inlaid into the body, located between the single coil pickup and the bridge system.

This means this bass has some (almost) invisible marks and a 2mm light dent (photo) on the headstock, like on every bass that's been played and loved for 20 years.. The only item missing is the cover of the piezo trimmers. One of the piezo pickups was DOA when I bought it and I had it refurbished.

For trade only.
I'm looking for :

A Zon Sonus (with cash on my side depending on the model) as a priority
a Music Man ?
I'll take offers on this bass anyway
Thank you

Hey bud - will give you a Talkbass bump for a bass I wish I still owned.
By the way my offer still stands if this is still around at tax time.
Everyone get on this. These basses are rare and SOMETHING ELSE!

I read that this is mint condition, but it looks like there is a somewhat nasty dent on the top of the headstock by the B tuner. (It's in the pic showing down the neck.)

Are there any other marks like this or any other flaws whatsoever?

Also, was the piezo bridge saddle replaced with a factory Ibanez AFT saddle or another brand piezo pickup? It looks like there is a gold colored piezo saddle on the B string. Is it just the way the picture looks, or is this a new saddle from RMC or someone else? Most importantly, if using only piezos, is the output and tone perfectly consistent from string to string? Is there any difference at all with the string that had a replaced piezo saddle?

Thanks for pointing out the ding in the instrument (was so small I had never noticed before).
I edited the description going from "mint" to "near mint" which should still apply to a bass in these conditions.

The piezo saddle has been replaced by Rolf Spuler himself, and he suggested me to replace the whole five saddles (but I could not afford it by then).
He wrote that the material Ibanez used for the piezo saddles will give way sooner or later. Yes, the color and the material is different (is this important? ) but the output of the single piezoes is perfectly balanced with the one of the magnetic pickup.
