Above is the link to my photo bucket account and pictures.

Ibanez BTB 556

I used to think that I would not want a multi-stringed instrument(6+ strings), and then my buddy found this beauty on CL. I have really enjoyed this bass! The fretboard is very playable, action super comfortable/fast! Tuners are great I wish I could trade them with my current basses. I received this from someone that did not play with a band, I have played 4-5 gigs with it. Probably 20+ rehearsal hours on it too. It's a player, feels good, sounds good! This model is no longer made, the neck is a bolt on. The pictures made the finish look a ton more purple than it really is. Grey or black, depending on the lighting. There is a chip of paint taken off the head stock next to the B tuning peg, visible in the pictures. There are a few scratches on the back of the bass, 2"-3" not all the way through the finish.

This bass is hot, takes 2 9volts!
Volume, Blend, Bass Treble and Vari-Mid Controls
35" scale
19mm string spacing at bridge
Strung with Fedora nickels, my only string change for 2 months.

Included with this bass is a hard case that does not fit great. Case keeps it safe but I usually keep an old shirt wrapped around the tuners/headstock.

I would like to trade for a 4/5 string. I like warwick, spector(rebop!!!), g&l, love laklands, hit me up. For the right bass I can add some cash.

I am only moving this bass out because I lucked into a used Groove Tools 7. The band over my gt7 so I am hoping to score a 4/5 that will make us all happy!

Thanks for looking!
I have ebay references and bartertown references under purple40k!

I have decided that I am open to fretless trades for a 4 or 5 string.

No fenders please. Please no rosewood boards on fretless basses.

Thanks

Would you be willing to trade for a BTB575QM? Feel free to look it up. I'm not sure I want to let it go, but one of the few things I'd trade for would be a BTB 6er. Does yours have the Bartolini mk2 electronics?

My BTB is in excellent condition, translucent gray finish that looks vaguely greenish under certain stage lighting. Gigged extensively, well-cared for, strung with Fodera's Vic Wooten signature set.

I am pretty sure the pickups are mark 1 bartolinis as that is what I have read online.
I do really dig the btb line but I would like to trade this dude for something a little different, the gt7 sounds is similar enough to the btb that I dont play it much now. If ibanez makes a fretless version of the btb I could be onboard with a trade!

Now open to cash and paypal. Asking 600$ +shipping!

In an effort to be forthright about the condition of the bass the pots are scratchy. Seems like an easy fix for someone with know how. I gigged this bass 4 or 5 times and never had noise from the pots, i believe the pickup selector made noise when rolling between pickups.

I own that exact same bass... mine is from 2002 I believe and I love it.

it sounds better to me than the newer neck thru body BTBs and I prefer the tone controls on it

my pickups say Ibanez... but again... I think they sound better than the new ones that are labeled Bartolini.
