FT Kawai FII B

Just got this on trade from fellow TBer mb94952 and its just not me.
Here is the original post with pics and discription.
KAWAI FIIB - Alembic Copy Made in Japan

Trades I am looking for are 4 string fretted of equal value or maybe you have a 4 string of lesser value but also have a rack case to fit my SVT.
Speaker cabs are welcome also but they need to be 6x10 or 8x10 and within driving distance.
Or maybe you have something that just might peak my interest

Any way let me know.

I read how the the previous owner described the tone, but how do you think it sounds? I've never seen a kawai before, but always dug how the series 1s looked.

Within driving distance of Hibbing? You're not asking much are you? (I'm from Minnesota and actually have a soft spot in my heart for Hibbing so its gentle ribbing.)

It's hard for me to nail it down tone wise. There are several different tones from thin midrange bark to deep round thump. Hope that helped.

gm 2 no problem with the gentle ribbing. You never know who's within driving distance.

Anybody who does a trade with Jim (Alembicguy) is gonna be happy ! He is an AWESOME TB'er and a great guy !

I used to own THIS bass. I invested some $ into it and it plays and sounds great.

Now that I own the real thing, I can tell you that that this Kawai sounds exactly like an Alembic with both filters turned all the way open, and both preamp's gain on full open, too. It has a lot of growl. As far as any other tones in between like filters half closed, and blend (or in this case tone & vol/vol) either to more bass or treble pup position, I can't tell you. I always played it with everything on 100% which shows my inexperience with this system and it's subtleties it has to offer. The 2 boost toggles sound like a Q switch.

If you are looking for a bass that can duplicate a lot of Alembic tonal qualities, but your budget is under $1,000 then this may be the bass for you. 34" scale neck.

Again, Jim is a great guy to deal with !
