Up for Trade is a bass that was built to look a lot like Les Claypool's main 4-string Carl Thompson. There's a lot of information on the build as it was documented in this thread:
4-String scroll CM#1 for Chris.gotfunk
Some info on the bass from the for sale ad when I bought it:
FS- Price Drop!! $1,300- Solo Rio - Custom Carl Thompson copy Quote:
The bass has a walnut body with flamed maple runners. This is a copy of Claypool's main 4 string minus the tremolo. It has an EMG 35DC with the EMG BQC Control 18-volt system. 3 piece maple neck with a wenge fretboard and guitar frets. Hipshot brass bridge and Hipshot ultralight tuners.
There are some really cool features on this bass that I love. They are all documented in the build thread. But here is a short explanation.
- 34" scale 28 fret (removable 4 frets held on by magnets) covers the truss rod access.
- Magnetic front control cover for easy access to the cavity. Batteries are on the back of the bass in a dual flip battery box
- Semi-hemispherical frets (you do not feel them on the edge of the board) Very nice feel.
- Pseudo binding using the wenge from the fretboard to also keep the fret edges from protruding.
The bass weighs about 9.3 lbs and balances great on a strap. The neck is a flattened C shape with is by far the best 4 string neck I have ever felt. 19mm spacing at the bridge.
I have plenty of sound clips (from church) with the bass in a band situation. There are also some youtube clips of my church with me playing the bass. |
What will I trade for? I'm open to all offers. I'm at a point where I'm just looking for a change, but I'm not really set on what I'd like. Generally I prefer 4 string basses but I'm open to 5'ers if it's something appealing.
Ideas of things I'd consider (+/- cash depending on value):
G&L USA basses with two pickups
MusicMan style basses
Fender Jazz Basses
Fender Style P/J Basses
Spector Basses
Lakland Basses with two pickups
Sadowsky Metros with two pickups
Other interesting basses (try me!)
Lightweight Amp Heads over 500W
Bergantino Cabinets
Things I would NOT consider:
Ibanez, Schecter, Dean, Ocean, Washburn, etc. unless there's something special about the bass.
Please PM all trade offers rather than posting in the thread.
