FT/FS MTD Czech 5 string Jazz Bass

Sale Price: $750 shipped to the lower US--
As of Tues Price is now $700 Shipped!

More Pix added
(I have a sale pending but if something goes amiss, grab this rare, rare funk-machine--they rarely ever come up for sale)

I have a MTD 5 string made in the 1990's in the Czech Republic. It has a 35 inch scale; body made with a tiger-striped maple cap (not a veneer) paired with a tulip-wood/alder back? (not sure of the wood used in the back and Mike Tobias said it could be either.)
Fretboard is Wenge........very nice!
It has all Black Hip-shot hardware.........the B tuner is also a De-tuner. The bridge is a Hipshot B.....black over solid brass with 3/4 inch string spacing.

The electronics are Bart 4 band/push-pull mids. Tone control works in active or passive.......via switch. Vol's are stacked.

Layout: Vols, P-tone, Mid's, Stacked Bass/treble.

Installed by Mike Lull........shielding is copper as you might expect.
Pickups are Bart single/coil.

Not a 10--(its almost 15 years old).........has some player wear/finger scuffs, etc. The only real ding/imperfection is where the original stap button was. It has since been moved over to the side. A chip in the paint/maybe dropped,??.......could prob be hidden if the stap button was re-installed there.

Original Retail according to Mike was $1800.00

Looking for a Lakland J type 5 string bass........not too heavy........9 lb ish. or perhaps a Carvin B 50.

Free bump, I had one that was coral blue. 70's pickup location, Bart components, just a super solid funk machine with necks that are really playable. These Czech basses are really high quality and great value. GLWTS.

I think the model on these was the GRENDEL. I always wanted to try one of these.
Too bad I can't now (flush with gear), but they were amazing basses, from what I have heard.

Thanks guys for kind words of praise for this bass.

Grendels were the first of his Czech "babies"........they were super nice but had the 34 inch scale and somewhat narrower necks..........this one is a later version--sometimes called Saratoga (not to be confused with the Chinese model) and came along about the same time as the "Beast" a more economical version of this bass......

It has the 35 inch scale-- width at the nut 1 7/8's and about 3 inches at the 24th fret--the profile is NOT the same as the Korean models........I never thought Bart's could sound so good---by far my favorite Bart pickups............But I have smaller hands and need to get a smaller neck bass. Quality is not an issue here.
