This is a 2008 Music Man Stingray 4HH. Its in MINT condition. Include a John East BTB-MMSR 4 knob preamp ($230 value) professionally installed that delivers vintage pre-EB tone when the mid knob is in the center detente, but also features a sweepable mid control knob (see pic).. I will include the original factory preamp as well if for some reason you want to switch it back out. It also has dunlop strap pins already installed. It comes with a MM original HS case in perfect condition just few scratches on but thats what the cases are, right? I would like to keep it but I need the extra string for sake of simplicty. Lakland, Stingrays, Valenti, Sadowsky, let me know, i can add some cash from my side
Now for sale, $ 1200 and you got both preamps.

I've been really toying with the idea of getting one, but haven't seen an actual review/comparison, and it's a little spendy for an experiment right now. |

I have never played an original pre-EB, but you can hear a noticeable change with the East pre amp, it emulate the pre EB sound very well plus the mid-control give you more flexibility. Weight is about 9.5 pounds on my right hand scale. |

| | | | Excuse me asking a dumb question perhaps, but what is a pre-EB tone?
How is it different from the tone of a regular, single-humbucker MM? |

Interestingly enough, it's quite common in Europe especially Germany and France. The main difference is that the 2 band preamp has shelving type EQ versus the 3 band having a peak EQ (as suggested above) but the center frequencies are essentially the same. And with a little bit of tweaking the 3 band can be made to sound pretty close to the 2 band preamp.
However, a preamp with 2 band characterisitics featuring a parametric mid control, that sounds quite interesting! |
