FT: Peavey Foundation Late 80s Super Ferrites Good Condition

Sign in to disble this ad
For Trade my Peavey Foundation 4 string jazz style bass. I really really like this bass and probably will not be able to find a suitable trade but who knows? I'm not sure of the exact year but I think it is an 89 or 90. It has the super ferrite pickups, solid lightweight tuners, and asymmetrical bridge that all of the early foundations had. All electronics work well although the jack doesn't grip a cable perfectly tight..although I have gigged with it as is numerous times as is no sweat.

The condition of the bass is good...not mint, not crap house but good. It has a number of scratches and small nicks, belt rash etc. but for a 20+ year bass it is fine. It looks great from more than a few feet away. At some point someone touched a few spots in the front up with some kind of white paint and did an amateur job but it isn't that noticeable. The hardware is all good with just a hair of oxidation on the bridge and some of the screws. Tuners are great. The neck is very straight after I added a lock washer and the action is good. I don't notice any fret wear. This bass plays very well and comfortable with its slim neck and comfortable thumb placement on pickups. You could call this a "players bass" but look at the pics and you will see it is more or less in good condition. (the black square is a slap guard which will be removed before sale.)

I love the way this bass plays and sounds...especially how it sounds. Why am I trading? I can't gig it because of a neck injury from surfing. The bass weighs around 10lbs. (The guy I bought it from said 10.3 my scale says 10 so somewhere in there) Even with my padded strap the bass really irritates my shoulder and neck area, much more so than my 8.5 L2K to the point that I can't play it out anymore.

Anyway, what am I looking to trade for? I really like Ps Js and I would really like to find a P/J with a P neck. Also, the bass has to be lightweight meaning 9 or under. Only really looking passive and I like P necks although a J neck on the right bass will be ok.

Some ideas:
Tribute SB2 + i pay some $
Peavey Fury (or another Foundation that is lighter...please please please)!!!!!)
Yamaha BB414 plus some $ from me
Other P/Js Js or Ps.

* I am not interested in SX or squiers. No hate just not my thing. In reality, I am probably not going to get what I want for this instrument. To me it is worth a lot more than its market value which is like 200$. The build sound and playability of this instrument is on par with any 80s Fender stuff (the Peavey crew here will back me up on this) and it is a joy to play. But since I am a gigging musician, I would like to have something I can play out on. OK, thanks for looking--PK

I bought this from another TBer and had to do a lot of work to get it to where it is today. Also, it had a different style in the past. Here is the story (post 245)

I have a BB300 that I would trade for it, in really good shape, but it would not exactly fall into the "lightweight" category.

What would you sell this for? Very interested. I have an 89 Fury, but would not trade it for a MIA Fender of the same year. Also if its not to much to ask........ serial number?
