FT: R-bass 4 string

Sign in to disble this ad
R-bass 4 string
built in 2002
chestnut top with matching headstock
alder body
purple heart or bloodwood(?) binding and layer of body(between the alder and chestnut)
bartolini PJ pickups
Haz Labs 3 band preamp with active passive switch and mute switch
birdseye maple fingerboard
24 frets
33 inch scale
weighs about 7.5 lbs according to my bathroom scale(insanely light!)
dunlop dual design strap locks
hipshot hardware and ultra light tuners

this thing absolutely nails the victor tone when you want it to, as the previous owners can attest to. also gets a sick passive pj tone, or bridge pickup jaco-esque burp.

near mint condition aside from a slightly low nutslot on the D string(causes some open buzz when action is super low....which this bass is very capable of otherwise...like, obscenely low!)

i really want a high end jazz bass and some p's could be considered, preferably passive, but i will consider everything. would love a lakland jo and bg together for it...

Lakland Skylines plus cash
LEJ 4's or 5's
sadowsky metro 4's or 5's
fender something plus cash
etc

would also consider some singlecut 5's. or a mtd z with a natural finish and maple board plus cash.

thanks...shoot those offers my way!

I feel I need to post this. If you are considering selling or trading this bass, there obviously must be something that doesn't completely fit with what you are looking for in a bass. I know you love this bass, and you should. But if the tone, or the feel, or whatever isn't totally doing it for you, then you shouldn't feel bad to move on and try to find that bass that works for you. My 75 RI Jazz was my go-to bass for 10 years. Near the end of that period, I found that I really wanted to get a bass with a low B on it, so I begun my well publicized search here. I thought I had found it with my old MTD 635, but as you know after playing it for just more than a year, it ultimately wasn't the bass I needed. What I loved was my old jazz bass, but I really wanted a low B on it. So ordered my Nordy vJ5 to be my jazz's big brother, and after some tweaks it has turned out to be a near perfect bass for me.

I guess my point is that even though we may fall in love with a bass, our tastes and tone goals change over time and that one bass might not do it anymore. If you can afford to keep it and find another bass that fits you better, well, that is up to you if you think it is worth it. In the case of my MTD, it wasn't, even though that might have been one fo the finest MTD's I've ever played.

Good luck with your search. You have a killer bass here, and I'm sure somebody will give it a good home if you decide to move it.

Preach on Tony.
As much as I adore this bass and find it effortless to play, I am pretty sure it isnt "me". Keep the offers coming everyone, and thanks for the kind words man.
