FT: Rickenbacker 4003 Jetglo for your 5 (five) string

Sign in to disble this ad
My beloved Rickenbacker and I must part ways...

I need a 5 string bass much more than I need my Ric.

Perfect condition (one tiiiiiny ding in the white lining in the body). Going into the shop this week or next for a full tune up before trade.

Looking for a comparable 5 string bass:

1st choice: 5 string Ric

2nd choice: 5 string Fender Precision or Precision w/ P/J pickups

No boutique basses, nothing worth less than $1100. Add cash on your end if the bass if worth less than $1500. I'd like to avoid actives and JAZZ pickups.

I wish someone in NJ did that locally and fast. My guitar guy would take WAY too long to convert mine...

Where are you located Dale? I'd like to try it in person if it's not one of the basses I listed in my OP.

I've played the bass in Ric5's picture and it is a sweet one. His conversions are very nice if you're dying for a 5 string Rick. Free Awesome Ric bump.

I wonder if it's the guy I'm thinking of (Pete? He really does great work, you just have to accept it could take a while )?

I've seen them pop up in a bunch of threads and always thought they looked really well done!

Yep, I saw you're in Mt. Laurel, you were talking about a great luthier in the area, and I said to myself "I'll bet he's talking about Pete.". The last couple of times I was in there he was telling me about how he's getting into working on pedal designs now. Are you working together with him?

Come to think of it, I need to go see him soon. I have a fretless Jazz that I'm thinking about selling/trading and I'd like to have him look at the jack before I put it on the market.

Nah, not working on pedals with Peter. Still on our own pretty much.

As for pics, I am in babyville right now and can't get to take a pic. I can soon. In the meantime, google "rickenbacker 4003 jetglo" since they all look the same!
