FT: Stambaugh AJ6 Single Cut

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there any interest in this 36" scale AJ6?

Not really sure what I'm after at the moment...but not 6 string (unless it's a piccolo)

I can make the deal pretty sweet for a Sadowsky NYC 5

AJ6 implies anthony jackson, which implies fodera.

Yes...this is a Stambaugh modeled after the anthony jackson 6 string fodera...but I don't think I ever implied it WAS a Fodera ever.

I would have to agree....when I saw AJ6, and then saw Stambaugh, I thought "if he's looking for a message from Anthony himself he's probably going to get it, but he ain't gonna like it". Out of respect for AJ, Fodera and for Chris Stambaugh you may want to take the "AJ6" part out of your add. That's very much associated with Fodera and a very specific bass that they developed for a very specific person.

to each his own. just know that it's pretty much shorthand for a fodera anthony jackson 6-string bass.

Gimme a Break

Ya know, it never ceases to amaze me the banality and hypocrisy of TalkBass. While I never implied that this was a Fodera or an Anthony Jackson sponsored model, it seems that some of you cannot get past the fact that there is an AJ in the name. However, in other nomenclature cases TB is just fine throwing around all encompassing terms.

Consider the Precision Bass. The Precision is a Fender created bass, yet we are all comfortable calling any bass resembling one a P bass. Not only did bass manufacturers steal the name, they also stole the body shape, the pickup placement, the neck radius, etc. But there is no cry of foul play on this issue. The same is true of the J bass or (even crazier) the PJ bass. Maybe "out of respect" for Leo Fender, we should stop calling non-Fender basses P, J or PJ? Maybe we're all waiting for a transcendental email from Leo to take action...and we're not going to like that one either.

For what it's worth, on the few instances Chris and I exchanged emails, we referred to the bass as an AJ6.

Quite frankly, I think this sea-lawyering is petty. I'm sorry you didn't find a Fodera when you viewed this thread. I'm sorry you cannot get past the AJ6 thing to see an awesome bass. I'm sorry you don't have something positive to add to the discussion.

If you are interested in this bass, you know where to find it. If not, I'm more than happy to keep playing it long into the future (Only reason it's on the table is I have a hankering to try something new). This thread is closed. Good day, gentlemen.

Alan Dooley...OUT!
