FT: STR Vintage 5 / MIJ / Translucent White

Got this in a trade recently but I'm not too keen on the 34" scale. Sidenote: there have been two near-identical translucent white STR's on the forum within the past two months. This particular one did not belong to friend and fellow TBer honest abe. Just wanted to avoid any confusion.

Here's the dope:

*Ash body finished in gloss translucent white.

*One piece maple neck with maple FB, 34" scale, 21 frets

*Gotoh tuners (I actually like this particular config.)

*Tort pickguard

*STR proprietary single-coil pickups. Low noise / hum.

*Bart preamp

*Volume, blend, active / passive switch, tone (functions in both modes), treble, bass.

*STR proprietary bridge.

*Strung with fresh set of Sadowsky Bright Nickels.

*Weight - ~8.75 lbs....light and well-balanced!

*Condition - very good...easily an 8.5 / 10 and that's conservative.

*STR gigbag in excellent condition.

The STR smacks strongly of Sadowsky in terms of function, playability, and tone. The treble and bass are boost only, the tone control acts like a VTC, and the active & passive modes are fairly equal with the EQ flat. Since active EQ is boost only, a little goes a looooong way! The truss rod is very responsive and has plenty of travel in either direction. I can't slap worth a durn but the finger tone is beyond belief and, normally, I'm not a big fan of single coils.

Cosmetically, its apparent this bass has been played but not abused. There is only minor fret wear. There is a small point chip at the treble side of the neck pocket which I touched-up with a water based Sharpie paint pen. Not perfect but it minimizes the blem's appearance. There is also a small clear coat compression ding on the face just above the bridge pup. Fellow TBer and tech walterw touched up a microscopic fingerboard ding at the 16th fret. You'd have a hard time detecting the repair if I hadn't mentioned it.

As always, I'm looking for another 5 banger, preferably 35" scale, light, and well-balanced. I've been on a Dingwall kick as of late and could always use an ABZ or ABI. Please PM me with any questions or offers. I always offer right-of-refusal on anything I sell or trade. Cash +/- for the right deal.

Aska is the Bacchus factory, btw, so craftmanship will be top-notch.

Yeah. I've been reading up on STR but it's hard to find info. Not much out there and half of it's in Japanese. They do have a whole stack of vids on youtube showing the build of a 6 stringer..... which is interesting if you're as big a dork as me.
