FT Trans White Dingwall Combustion

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I just picked up a dingwall combustion from gary at guitarx here in Denver, and I'm just not feeling it. It a wonderful bass, with the great low B and comfortable feel that is common to all Dingwalls, but

Its trans white, with the baltic amber pickguard and a rosewood board. No pics yet - I'll try to get some in the next few days - but I just picked it up this week - it has no marks on it.

I'm ideally looking to trade it for a Bongo - preferably a four string, I'll consider fives.

At this point, I'm not interested in selling it, and probably not interested in a lot of outside trades. I'm not convinced I don't want to keep this.

I have a Skyline Hobo, a 400+, an iAmp 800, a SWR Mo'Bass, and ~30 effects pedals available (including a Bass MuRF & Analogman Chorus w/deep switch). Almost all are mint. Would like to try to work something out in a trade if you have any interest.

I'd give it more than a week to tinker with. I have an AB1 but from what I'm told the Combustion has even more sonic goodies than my AB1. If its a comfort thing with the long scale or the fanned frets, that is usually something you adapt to very quickly as well. I do find it difficult to play anything else in my stable to be frank.

That being said, they're not for everyone, so if it's not your thing, good luck with the sale/trade etc.

+1

In the first two weeks it takes some time to get used to it, but after that...

I don't play paralel basses anymore, because I just can't, fanned fret is a lot more netural to me now.

Are you still interested in trading the Dingwall? I've got a 4 string Bongo I've been looking to trade for sometime as well. I got it from a friend, and it has some shotty patch jobs in the paint, but it plays (and more importantly, sounds) like EB. It's actually my main playing bass, and I'm actually interested in changing things up to a fanned fret system and adding in a low B to my sound. I'd be glad to throw in $200-300 cash, seeing as my Bongo is not aesthetically the most beautiful thing ever. Burnt orange.

To me, burnt orange is the best color for the bongo!

It's not awful, but I vastly prefer the yellow.
