Hello all!
(Edit: Price added - $900 plus shipping from Canada. Canada or CONUS.)
What I have here is a right purdy USA Peavey Cirrus 5. It's been gigged, played, used, etc... but it is in really good shape.
I've come to the conclusion that, while I love this bass very much, I have a personal issue with 3 things:
1) I generally prefer less than 35" scale;
2) It's completely active; and
3) I feel more comfortable on either a 4 or 6 string. I feel odd having an extra string without the other extra range as well.
This bass is, for right now, trade only. I'm not looking to get rid of it quickly or sell it for less than it is worth, and I still use it on a regular basis, so I'm in no rush to part with it before I find a suitable substitute.
I really do love this thing, and, if it were a 6, I would probably find a way to make it passive (Throw some big singles and a sadowsky preamp in it or something). However, I am looking for another bass to take it's place.
Here is what I'm looking for:
- 4 or 6 strings
- Passive/Active
- Preferably less than 35" scale (But I can ignore it if I find the right offer/bass)
- Any pickup/preamp combos are ok
- No fretless. I love fretless, but I already have 2 that I don't use enough.
A while back, I would likely have put a certain list of brands down here that I wouldn't have been cool with. However, after trying the Peavey and a few other "Lesser" brands that people seem to have knee-jerk reactions to regarding value and quality, I am open to trying any brand or type of bass. That being said, a Ritter would be cool.... :P
It comes with a fitted hardshell case.
For those of you who care, I do live in "The Canada" so im cool with shipping across the border as long as you are. Canadians with good offers get first dibs, though
Anyways, pics:
Thanks for looking!

I have a Cirrus 6er and a Roscoe SKB-3006 as well, and the Cirrus holds its own against anything I've played yet. What does this one weigh? Tempted to offer either of those up, or maybe even my prized B-Quad 4! Kinda been getting the draw toward another 5 string lately, but just don't have the cash in the budget. Darn economy!

That's why I'm not in a huge rush to get rid of it; I just know that there is someone who could get better use out of this bass than I am and that I could get something that fits my needs more completely.
I'm primarily looking for 6ers at the moment. It would have to be some sort of real special 4 to make me want to give my Cirrus up. Plus, I use the low B a lot and I haven't played too many basses that have the same kind of low B this does...
What kind of Cirrus do you have? I'll post the weight when I can get to a scale soon.

Also, the bass weighs 9.4-9.6 pounds on ye olde bathroom scale.
Fun Facts:
35" scale
Neck-through body
Claro walnut top, back and headstock veneer
2 VFL active pickups
Active 3-band EQ with +/- 10dB boost/cut with added
Gold hardware
Milled ABM multi-adjustable bridge
Pau Ferro Fretboard
Graphite reinforced neck with dual expanding truss rod
Hipshot hardware

Especially nice job of grain matching by the Peavey folks on this one. I also much prefer the black knobs to the tacky-looking (IMO) gold ones sometimes seen on these models.

I used to really love super-boutique basses, but simpler, natural woods or really nice color schemes do it for me these days.
I can appreciate the wood figure in a nice piece of Burl Maple or Lacewood or whatever the wood happens to be. However, I don't find myself drawn to them as strongly as I did before.
The only thing that would be a plus about the gold knobs is that they would match the other hardware more easily, but it's all subjective in the end.

What kind of Cirrus do you have? I'll post the weight when I can get to a scale soon. | My Cirrus is what I believe to be a flame maple top with a slight spalt to it... natural colored. Maple neck, Pau Ferro fingerboard with some nice figuring. Not sure what the body wood is... alder perhaps? I'm not so good with wood identification! I wasn't even considering letting it go till I saw yours, but I've been thinking a 5er would be good to have back in the stable. I LOVE this bass. It literally gets equal playtime to my Roscoe. Fresh set of Elixirs and a recent application of lemon oil to the fretboard! It's in fantastic condition, and has the OHSC in pretty good shape. Worth a shot, right? I'll try to get some pics tonight and shoot them over to you. The Roscoe could even be on the block for the right deal. Let me know what you think. Another bump for you!

I'm a huge fan of Roscoe basses, so I'm curious to see what you want.
Thanks for the bumps!

| Because the 1000 series Taiwanese made TRB's are but a shadow of the original MIJ TRB line. They are nowhere near the quality and nowhere near the value. A used 1000 series is valued at just over half of what your Cirrus is and IMO not even that.

I know that they aren't really of the same caliber as the older ones, but I've played this one and I liked it. I will take what you said into consideration, though, and do some more thinking on it. In my case, it was more the interest in something different than the bass itself.
