Now also F/S at $2000 + split shipping, in a G&G vintage style HSC I found a Mesa 400+ local for $1400 and simultaneously realized I won't be able to make rent this month since I've cancelled a bunch of gigs and have taken too much time off of work due to my surgery. This bass is still for trade for a Mesa 400+ or another amp I've got listed but must also include another $600 (or more depending on what it is) on top of it. I will no longer be accepting basses as partial trades unless its something I can dump really quick.
This started out life as a 67 P-bass long long ago. However the 80s happened. This bass is super light weight and is an awesome player. I brought her the International G2G.
The bass now sports a July 1962 Fender Jazz neck on it with a replaced truss rod (vintage Fender truss rod or so I was told by the guy I got it from and I've no reason to doubt but have no way to check) The wood was cut to remove the truss rod and reglued back in place. You can see the penciled in date.
Hardware thats original?
Strap buttons and tuners. One of the tuners lost a screw on the back and it was replaced with a modern screw. It works fine, but I'd replace it with the exact screw as its sometimes a little stiff to turn. The bass stays in tune excellently.
Pickguard is from my 57RI P-bass. I didn't like the original guard on this bass and replaced it. When I brought the bass in to be set up I told them not to drill holes but they did. I noticed this when I was checking out the pickup. They'd be hidden under a regular P-bass pickguard.
Bridge is a reissue bridge.
Electronics are (if I remember correctly) CTS with cloth wiring. I'm not sure what the pickup is. I've heard old Shecter and early Seymour Duncan. It is from the early 80s and has no markings on the underside. The covers are pretty beat up. The wire bobbin is wrapped in some black material, I'm guessing to protect the coil. Pickup sounds fantastic either way.
Bass was refretted. They're the same size frets as the neck my 64 and 57RI P-basses. They are smaller than the ones on my 71 P-bass.
The color is shoreline gold and it has a matching headstock It is painted in nitro. A few bruises from playing live but nothing thats even through the clear coat. Some buckle worming too but thats also not through the clear coat either. There is a very small small cigarette burn on the headstock.
Here is the bass at a recent gig. The sticker is easily removable.
The bass does not include covers but will include them if the buyer wishes. The bass is strung with new DR Hi Beams.
I can also swap out the PG with a USA white p-bass guard.
Here's some pictures of the restoration: http://www.pwogs.com/msvg_workshop_recent_GoldPB.html

Would consider certain 2008+ American Standard Precisions as well. I'm a fan of maple fretboards since I think they look classy. I'd also entertain G&L L1000 and L2000 basses.
Still looking for a Mesa Boogie 400+ but I could live without it as half my current gigs involve me not playing bass. Would also consider trades of EV RE20 or AKG D112 microphone for micing a bass cabinet. If you have a stand for it, even better.
If you are worried about not having an amp after this I have an Aguilar AG500 I can throw into the trade mix.

However, out of all my basses, this is the only one I can part with and hope to get a 400+ without putting any cash down on my part. Granted I could sell others but they have sentimental value or get more play time.
Lots of trade offers so far.
Please nothing with a jazz neck. One of the reasons why this doesn't get as much play time as my other P-bass with flats is because my hands cramp up on a jazz neck somewhere after the second set. I can really only deal with B and C necks (prefer a C)

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Aug 2010 Location: Langhorne, PA, USA | | I've got a '51 P-Bass re-issue (remember this one?) -- Fender '51 RI MIJ P 1991—Ivory/Cream color
and a 2008 American Standard P-Bass in absolutely MINT condition (sunburst/4-ply tortoiseshell guard).
If you're interested in a trade that involves either of these basses + Cash (or both basses), please let me know, and we can go to exchanging PMs.
By the way, I am in Langhorne, PA (an hour away from NYC by train or 90 minutes by car) and I can do a swap in-person if you like!
I have smaller hands/short fingers, so Jazz necks actually suit me better ... but I like the P-Bass sound, which is why I own two of them.

It sounds fine for the stuff that I'm doing, but generally we're playing for about 2+ hours and my hand cramps on the jazz neck. Its one of the few reasons why I'm considering parting with this beauty.
