FT: Xotic XB-2 6 String, Set Neck, 2-Tek, Amazing!

Sign in to disble this ad
I have had a love affair with this bass for some time now. I recently bought it back after selling it about a year ago. I absolutely love everything about it except for the fact that it's a 6 string. If it was a 5 it would never leave my side.

Alas as much as I try I guess I'm just not a 6 string player. So I'm offering it up here in trade for a 5 string of similar value.

Basses I'd be interested in would be another Xotic 5 (or) some other nice 5 string of similar value ($2,500)! Hit me up with any and all trade ideas. You just never know. I'm more motivated by finding the right 5 stringer than I am by making a profit on the trade!

Here are the specs:

34" scale
18 mm string spacing
11.5 lbs
Burled Maple top finished in a deep transparent blue
Set neck finished in matching blue
Two octave ebony board with inlaid circle markers
Black headstock with inlaid Xotic logo
Recessed Dunlop straplock buttons
Black hardware
Factory 2-Tek bridge assembly
Kent Armstrong active pickups
Xotic 18 volt preamp
Vol (pull for neck coil tap), Blend (pull for bridge coil tap), Master Tone, Bass, Mid, Treble

This bass originally belonged to Paul Arntz, bassist for Lee Greenwood.

The condition is excellent with just a few signs of use. Some small impressions and surface scratches in the finish on the body and one minor ding at the very top of the headstock.

Here are a couple photos (courtesy of Brian @ The Low End) as well as a link to a whole bunch more.

Spencer! Why do you torment me with this again! Thank goodness I'm happy w/ a Roscoe 6'er since this was last available. Free bump for an excellent seller! Xotics are one of my favorites!

Some very nice offers but I'm sill looking for just the "right" one.

Five string Xotics, Sadowskys and Roscoes are at the top of my "desired" list but I'm open to other ideas as well. Hit me up. You will never find another 6 string bass like this one I guarantee it!!!

If I hadn't bought something else after I sold this to you, I'd buy it back.

This bass is the bomb. Any sound you want, and capable of the lowest action I've ever seen on any bass. Monster!

Killer bass from a GREAT member to do business with.

All PMs replied to!

A couple folks have expressed uncertainty about Xotic basses as though they were something to be feared. Please believe me when I say that this bass delivers in all areas (tone, looks, playability) and if I could find one like it that was a 5 string it would be a keeper for sure. I have owned a lot of high end basses (check my profile) so I believe that I have a really good frame of reference on this. These are totally wonderful instruments and this particular one is really special!

Hit me up with any and all trade ideas people. You just never know. I'm more motivated by finding the right 5 stringer than I am by making a profit on this trade! Also I am willing to offer a trial period so if it doesn't meet your expectation you can return it.

Spencer, there is a red Xotic 5'er locally w/ a brass nut & zero fret. Has the tone wheel electronics too! If I can help facilitate a deal, please send me a PM.

For those of you who have doubts about this bass being everything I say it is, here is what it's previous owner (LowRanger) has to say about it!

"If I hadn't bought something else after I sold this to you, I'd buy it back.

This bass is the bomb. Any sound you want, and capable of the lowest action I've ever seen on any bass. Monster!"

And look at this beautiful craftsmanship!!!
