G&L ASAT Semi-Hollowbody Butterscotch

Sign in to disble this ad
Here we have a G&L ASAT Semi-hollowbody USA bass

Active\Passive, 2 band EQ, Series vs Parallel

This one has strap locks installed. I think its a 2004

I also had a repair shop replace the lousy barrel jack with a fantastic football plate jack that is user serviceable & actually holds the cord The barrel jacks are notorious for needing to be replaced

The only blemish is a fingernail size scratch by the cutout that is shallow & only into the gloss (See pic)

$850 shipped, $800 picked up in Boston... new these are $1499
NOW $800 shipped cont USA

Trades: NOTHING as of now

Its a great rock n roll bass, its a got a little too much grind for my church project right now. I need something that wants to hide in the mix like a big muddy pillow sound.

This video is VERY accurate to the sound: G&L L2000 Bass - YouTube

Heres the link to the same bass, I got it from Tom Bowlus

FS: G&L ASAT Semi-Hollowbody

cool how different light changes the color eh?

When the light hits it just right you can see the fingernail sized scratch

Otherwise its gone like the other pics & this one

I'm thinking of putting some flats on this thing, I bet thats a wild combination. The strings that are on it are Sadowsky's & pretty bright. I'll leave this thing up for another week & then make the change just for fun.

The new input jack is so great I really should give her a chance with some new strings. I swear they are brighter than the new strings I put on my Sterling last night.

Added trades: Doug Wimbish Spector 4, EBMM Big Al SSS 4

Thanks boss. Its a solid bass. Its very hard to find 17.5mm string spacing on 4 strings besides jazz, not a lot of options so its VERY comfortable to play.

I had a guy PM me about picking this up & then I haven't heard from him. I had it on hold but I guess its still available to whoever sends the funds 1st I guess?

I'm also thinking of going with flats to just make sure I really want to do this. Theres a lot of tonal options, active\passive, series\parallel that may interact different with a new set of strings.

Thanks Joe-

We'll see how long it takes, TONS of interest in this, way more than the P bass I just sold. I guess its just more rare to get an ASAT hollowbody.

A few trade offers... but theres nothing I know of that has a Sterling\Jazz neck & spacing that I could want... I think just the Big Al but thats too much like my Sterling HH as well.

I haven't had a chance to put Flats on it yet. I do know that the passive neck pickup tone is pretty mellow now that I"ve been playing around with that.

This bass has a very strong D & G string... which is the opposite of the classic "weak G string" of my EBMMs. If you're solos & fills get lost... this is definitely the bass for you

PMs replied on individual stuff but I figured I'd post a few things to avoid some repeat questions

1) I accept paypal

2) Its possible to ship to Canada but I've heard of some brokerage fees, taxes that we would have to figure out so nobody gets any crazy surprised which I have heard happen here: Shipping a guitar to Canada via UPS and brokerage fees - The Gear Page

3) This video is VERY accurate to the sound: G&L L2000 Bass - YouTube

It's very aggressive, a great sound thats awesome for rock. Listen to how in your face that tone is. I was just playing with the bass for a hour for a cover band project & its perfect for songs like "Anyway you want it" "Good" Better than ezra "Good Times Bad Times" Zeppelin. The D & G string are very strong & fills come out very well. As you can hear its not a subtle bass & playing in church I need something closer to an upright bass tone. Listen to the finger tone around 50 seconds. Just really cuts through and sounds MUCH BETTER in the mix than in your bedroom!

4) The semihollow body sounds NO different than the full body. When unplugged I'm sure you'll hear a difference when tooling around

5) Because it has a small body & is light, the neck will dip a bit when you stand. If you have a strap with a pad (Or just add a strap pad to yours) You should be all good

6) How does it compare to other basses? The best answer would be for you to compare THAT video to others by Ed Friedland who reviews a lot.

Now I'm going back to play it for a while
