G&L BABP LE2500K/Ash/RW/w Single Coil Option

Sign in to disble this ad
2008 G&L BadAssBassPlayers Limited Edition L2500K; one of approximately 23 made.
Blackburst on ash, nicely figured rosewood board on a maple neck.
The Blackburst finish and K-mode switching (single coil/dual parallel/dual series) were proprietary to BABP LE basses when they were built for BABP forum, but are available by special order now.

The single coil mode adds even more versatility to an already super-versatile bass. Controls are
vol/passive treble/passive bass;
pickup selector: neck/both/bridge
coil tap: single coil, dual coil parallel, dual coil series
preamp: off/on/on+treble boost

In nearly unplayed condition, 9.5lbs, plastic still on the control cover. Comes with an upgraded G&G high end tolex/plush/hardshell case (vs the standard issue skb/plastic case).

$1200

It seems every G&L up here 'still has plastic on the cover'. Mine is from 2001, and still has plastic on the cover too.

OCD bump.

Damn, L2500's always seem to pop up when I have no money to buy them. And this time it's much more than just a run-of-the-mill L-2500!

Oh well, someone will get a gorgeous bass.

Oh gosh...Chef is trying to hurt me with this. I really want that bass, but just can't get past the mental block of owning two of the same bass. I love my L-2500 with all my heart.

heh...my '97 L2.5K Custom ain't got no plastic on it....and it AIN'T EVER going in the classifieds either! Mine is very well used and not-so-shiny anymore, especially in the "slap area" under the neck.

I haven't been too fond of the Later L2500 versions, but this one is one hell of an exception.

Chef, what is the single coil option? I never heard of G&L doing this....or is it just the addition of the .1uF capacitors in Series mode, like what my '97 has?

EastCoast:
Single coil mode is a third tap on the coil selector switch. This is designated as K-mode by G&L. The Early L2000E-K had this, then it went away.
It was more or less re-intorduced with the BABP LE's, and is now an option you can request when ordering a new bass.
So, this bass, on the coil tap, has:
true single coil mode-jazz bass like
dual parallel-musicman like
dual series-thunderous like

Make sense?
