G&L Climax Hot Rod!

Sign in to disble this ad
G&L Climax from 1993 (estimated per the G&L Registry).

Transparent blue with a nice ash grain. She is in excellent condition especially for a 14 year old bass. She has been played but not abused. There are some light surface scratches that can be seen when the light hits it just right. No dings or buckle rash or anything thru the finish.

The neck has 1.5" nut. It is a very slender, fast neck compared to the 1.75" L2K necks. It's strung up with a new set of 40-100 Hard Rockin' Steels.

Electronics are all G&L; and will rip the face off any Stingray!

I bought this from DavePlaysBass here, who modified pickup tap to be like the L-1000 with a 3-way switch that goes series / parallel / single coil. Series mode is done with the capacitor so it is "single coil with bass boost". This is a great setting with the sweet spot pickup.

Dave also modified the preamp to be like an L-2000 with a 3-way off-on-treble boost arrangment. The stock only went off and treble boost. Here' a thread on the preamp configuration:

The L-1500 Treble Boost Mod

Comes with a G&L skb type case...
$675+shipping

Here are some pics:

I used to have one the same color but w/ a maple neck. This one has better grain than mine did, and I love the hot rodding it has! G&L shoulda done it this way to begin with!

A "wish I had some money" bump

That transparent blue on that ash body is gorgeous! I wish I had the extra bucks to get this. The awesome looks of this bass alone is worth a nice bump!

pm's answered, and, she weighs in at approx 9.75lbs. Pretty typical for a solid ash G&L, and well worth the weight in tone.
