| Thanks Spiritfield, that sounds like a very logical explanation I'm sure you nailed it. Mine is very light on the left side, like the brown tubing color on some of the older stands I've seen. Not only that but there had to be a second on the other side, and sure enough, therer is also a much less obvious mark on the right side on mine. Obviously not limited to the L-1000 then either. When I saw it on my L-1000 it was kind of DeJaVu so maybe I've seen it on other guitars and didn't give it much thought. I used to play in a band where the guitarist used to park a lit smoke in beteween the strings above the bridge on his Les Paul. When I saw the tan/brown mark on my recently aquired L-1000 I suspected a burn mark, but the bass was too clean for a smoker to have owned.
