Here is a nearly new custom M2500. I'm the first owner. It's custom ordered with wood binding on the front and incredible blackburst finish. Body is Swamp Ash. I'd say it's easily a 9 out of 10. Could probably pass as new but since I've owned it for a few months let's call it used to be fair. Maybe just some light "swirling" that you get from cleaning the surface. No dents, dings etc. Case is in like-new condition as well. It's a deluxe hardshell wooden G&L case made to fit the bass.

These things really do sound incredible. You can find my review here on TB if you search. Really nice instruments with nice necks. I really, really find it an awesome instrument. It's just that I've got an itch I'm trying to scratch. The quality is outstanding. G&L sure knows how to do their fit & finish and burst finishes. Love the preamp and 3-band eq on this thing.

Here's some pics:

$1600 $1500 shipped CONUS
As for trades I'm interested only in 5 string instruments. If you have a Tobias Basic or Classic I'd be especially interested.

I'm not sure. The grain runs up and down the length of the neck.

Here's the Certificate of Authenticity and Custom Order certificate.

Ok. Never quite heard of a bass referred to as a Mack truck...

Should that itch just happen to be a sunburst Precision V in excellent condition with original HSC (also in excellent condition), a fresh setup by a professional luthier, and some additional cash, then we really need to talk.

Nope, just a plain ol' Precision.

Although, the fact that it's a five stringer would probably be a reason many would argue against calling it "a plain ol' Precision". But it's close.

Thanks for the offer. I'm more of a Jazz bass or dual soapbar kind of guy though. Although I probably should own a Precision though...

I have the Precision for exactly the reason you said - I should just have one. All the basses I've ever owned have been dual pickup, active basses and my Precision is the lone exception. I love that it's so different from all the others so, to be honest, I'm a little relieved you declined. However, when a sudden, unexpected GAS attack strikes, rational thought goes out the window and you suggest/make deals you know you'll love but at the same time know you'll regret at some point in the future.

Anyway, good luck with the sale. Someone's going to be a very happy buyer.

I'm a manufacturing engineer for Mack Trucks and I've never seen one come off the line that looks like this. Sweet bass though.

That is one of the most gorgeous basses I have ever seen. There is just something about it.

Here's a pic showing the grain. My understanding of quarter sawn is that the grain runs up and down length of the neck but is cut in such a way that the grain goes through the plank top to bottom parallel to the fingerboard. That's the way the grain is here.
