Nice vintage bass. No issues with electronics, neck etc.. Gig-ready condition.
For full disclosure, slight buzz on frets 15-16 on the G string only, however, the bass is setup with low action. Raise the bridge a tad, no buzz.
I'm real picky about this stuff. I'd have spent the dough to file those frets up top or replace a saddle. Buzz is so minor it wasn't worth it.
Plays nice and fast. Neck is straight, truss works fine etc..
Mods / notes:
-replaced original chrome Schallers with gold Schallers, but, I'll include the originals.
-replaced strap buttons with Dunlops, but, I'll include the originals.
-original mudbucker pickup replaced with DiMarzio Model 1. I don't have the the original.
-pickup selector switch missing black plastic knob.
-includes original hsc in xlnt condition.
-minimal wear on frets and body.
-cherry stain though the body has turned more walnut. back of the neck is more cherry.
-no neck repairs.
-case and chrome schallers could sell for +-$ 300 on Ebay.
No trades. Paypal ok. Price: $ 870.00 firm shipped to lower 48 only.

I've had a few Gibsons. To me the DiMarzio tightens up the low end adds a touch of highs, but, doesn't take away from the deep, wide phatness.
I believe it's the only drop-in replacement for those mudbuckers, and hasn't changed in design for decades.
As though DiMarzio improved on the orig design/got it right.

I'm far from expert on these things, but I think in some cases the cherry finish can start to look like walnut when it fades. Perhaps yours is actually the cherry finish, just faded on the body? |

Good luck with the sale. |

They're all fat. Maybe one setting's a bit bigger.

| | Registered User | | | | The stock pickup for the EB4L is not a regular EB humbucker - rather it looks like this http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bas...humbucker3.php
That is four coils, each around a polepiece, with the switch performing various series/parallel options
Details here http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bass/EB4L.php
Sunlight (or some component of, UV?) is what fades Gibson Cherry finish to walnut brown. Have a look under the pickguard - the original colour will remain there. |

Used to have an EB-3 in the mid 70s. Loved that bass! Was stolen
Replaced with a fretless Ripper in '77, which I play to this day!
Thanx for posting! Incredible!

Shipping internationally is no more difficult than domestic shipping. You still have to pack it up securely and make a trip to the post office or courier either way. There's an extra form to fill out, that's all.
Oh well. Good luck with your sale.

Oh well. Good luck with your sale. | In my case I get a break on shipping, domestic only.
I'll look into Intl. and get back to you privately. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
