Gibson Victory Standard Relic

Sign in to disble this ad
Have a Gibson Victory to offer if anyone is interested.
I think the brass nut is factory. Everything works as it should, straight neck with lower action. Probably could use a set of strings. Frets have a bit of ware I tried to show but I cant tell when I play it. Looks like someone sanded the neck but it is butter smooth. Someone obviously loved playing the heck out of it. Just a cool old peice I will probably regret selling.
$400 plus shipping. Have a gig bag for it.

These are Truly under-rated basses. Even Gibson tries to pretend that they never built them. But this was Gibsons attempt at copying Fender, and it is a Great attempt. But they were always what my wife calls "A Little TOO..."

But I LOVE them. I've had one of each of the Major Models, Victory Standard, like this one, the Full Tilt Active Victory Artist, and the Passive version of the Artist, the Victory Custom, (I later found out it was a set neck prototype! Of course after I sold it...)

But here is a Cool Link discussing this model. There is a link on this page with an Interview with CHuck Burge, the guy that designed the Gibson Victory, and RD, and ...

Way Cool Bass Bump!

Thanks for the info!

Great link! Still dont know if the nut is stock brass as it says only the custom and artist had them. Great story about how the designer sculpted the heel area for Ted Nugents bassist. Cant help but wonder what that looked like...May not sell her after all....

If I hadn't just dipped deeply into my bass funds I would be buying this right now.

Man, I wish that was the two-pickup version, otherwise nice bass I'd buy in a second. I have too many Precision basses!

Update is a deal pending but no payment yet...
Nut and neck feel a lot like a pbass. Width is just under 1-3/4 with 1-1/2 string spacing. Its pretty heavy but I dont have a good scale..
Great link from a TBer tells me it is made in Nashville on December 21st, 1982 and is the 83rd instrument built that day.
