Hi all.
I'm looking to unload my Godin A5 fretted bass. it's the older, non-synth model. Made in Canada before Godin put the assembly plant in New England to please the US IRS.
The rock maple neck has a nice grain, as does the rosewood fretboard. It's a great looking bass. Sounds good as well. You can get a really nice, woody tone out of it with bronze strings. Right now it's wearing coated Elixir strings, which give it a cool punch, but make it sound a lot more electric than one would want a hollowbodied bass to sound.
It's a 34" scale axe. the neck is a nice, modern shape; slim and fast. I'm into basses with a wider string spacing at the bridge these days though, so it's just not comfortable any more (My two main basses now are a Lākland and a Fender. the spacing on the Godin is about the same as on a Music Man, IIRC).
Comes with hardshell case instead of the gigbag the new ones come with, as well as straplocks, but no strap. The bass was my main gigging axe for a number of years, but doesn't have any bad dings.
There's one spot on the front of the body near the upper bout that looks slightly smudgy if you look closely, but I've so far been unable to get it to show up all that well in pix. If anyone wants me to try again, I'm open to it.
$700 CAD or best offer. Please don't lowball me, though. I'll take cash locally or PayPal non-locally, though I won't ship the bass until the money's in my bank account, which may be 5 working days. I don't want to do it that way, but the times being what they are...
I'd rather sell this locally or within driving distance of Montréal, maybe as far as Ottawa.
That being said, I'll ship it anywhere, ask and I'll see how much it'll cost.
Okay, this goes into the 'live and learn' file: I'm no longer willing to ship this bass overseas. The shipping quotes are just too high. I got quotes of $750 and $850 so far, and Canada Post quoted me $364 to one European destination, *and* hassled me because the Godin in its case is 9 cm too long to ship, anyway. Sorry, guys...

That lightish spot near the preamp in these pics is the smudge/spot, actually...
