I've had this bass for a while now, but I have commitment issues, and I have yet another bass on the way. So.....I must make room.
This is a Gutiar Factory 5 string I believe from the early 90s. It has an original gold Kahler tremolo. The body is solid Mahogony with a Bocote or Cocobolo top (I'm not quite sure which if either). The 34" scale neck-thru neck is 5-peice Mahogony and Maple. The neck is on the thicker side, similar to my Euro 5 Spector. It has Bartolini P&
Js as well as Schaller tuners. The bass is in great shape. It has some very minor blemishes in the clearcoat, and some appear as if they are under or in the clearcoat from the factory.
Now to the bad news......
...When I got the bass, the J pickup didn't work. I removed it and metered it out, and everything appeared fine. I didn't really have time to mess with it, so I took it to my local tech, a man which I respect and have a great amount of faith in. He got it back to me a few weeks later, and when I played it in the store, it sounded Amazing. It had an awesome slap 'n pop tone to it. I got it home and wanted to play it thru my rig and crank it up. When I plugged her in, there was simply no output (and yes, I did check the battery!). The only thing my tech and I could come up with was that the Bart TCT preamp had burnt out or had been overloaded. So, the bass is now run all passive, and oddly enough, I didn't lose any tone. I lost a little bit of volume, and a little bit of tone shaping ability. The original TCT pre is included as it may still work. We couldn't prove that the pre was dead, so I didn't want to throw it out.
It will come with a beat up hard case. (All latches and hinges work, it's just seen better days!)
I'm asking $625 plus shipping in the lower 48. Feel free to ask any and all questions, and if you have some more info on GF instruments, please let me know.
Thanks
Dan
