I hesitate to put this up for sale, but I'm trying to fund some tool purchases and my next build, so here goes...
This is a
GW Basses DC1 5 string, built by Grandon Westland (aka basskahuna). I got this bass in 2005 and it has been my main bass since then. This was one of his earlier basses (0008).
Here's the original build log along with some of the specs and photos.
Here's the basic run down:
Neck:
Neck through, 24 frets, 34" scale. I think the fretboard radius is ~16". Nut width is just a hair under 2", and the string spacing at the bridge about 18mm - very comfortable spacing for both hands. The neck has a "soft C" profile, and is mildly asymetrical. It's "substantial", but doesn't feel huge in your hands.
The neck is a 5-piece lam of figured teak, purple heart, and paduk, with a thick slab of ebony for the fingerboard (as well as a maple underlayment for an accent stripe). The neck is extremely stable and plays great.
Body:
The body is walnut with a figured spalted maple top, again with a maple accent layer. The forearm and belly contours are nice and deep. Seated or on a strap, it balances perfectly. I don't have an exact number on the weight, but it's kind of middle of the road - definitely not a fly weight, and definitely not a monster - somewhere in the middle, and reasonable enough that you can play a gig without it destroying your shoulder or back (well, for most guys, anyway).
The body and neck are both finished in tung oil for a very nice "organic" feel.
Hardware/Electronics:
Hipshot Ultralite tuners
Hipshot A bridge
Bartolini pickups (72P45C-B, 72P45CX-T)
Aguilar OBP-3 preamp (+/-18db, 400/800Hz switch for mids)
Comes with a super duty ATA style case (by CDM Manufacturing)
Looking to get
$1250 (+shipping) for this one.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks
