Hayman 40\40 for sale. I am the only owner. Mint condition. All original except for the clip that holds the tailpiece cover on. I made a new one out of a spring steel clip from my junk drawer. Lots of smoked plexiglass. Handmade by Jim Burns in England. Bolt-on neck, double split pickups.
This is one of those things that if you know what they are, you probably want one, if you don't... then... hell I don't know.
Only made for three years in the early seventies.
Great Precision sound, except stronger mids, and great for pick players b/c it balances a little more horizontal, but no neck dive.
Had a great discussion today in the regular bass guitar section plus a little history but moved it over here to try and sell it.
Asking $750 or best offer.

You always have to remember, the bass players and drummers can NEVER be the wimps of the band. |

Originally Posted by JimB52 How does it play? Action OK, trussrod and all electronics work? | I'd say it has medium action. I added enough relief to the neck to slide a business card under the string when holding the first and last fret. There are two cardboard shims in the neck pocket to adjust neck angle. These came from the factory. There is adjustment there if you want to change it. String height is adjusted with front hinged saddles and tiny allen screws to raise the saddle. These were frozen when I got it back but I've been soaking them in WD-40 and they move now.
I have DR Hi-Beams on it now. When I played it in the 70's I always used Fender flats.
Both pickups work fine along with the 3-way pickup selector switch and the master volume and master tone. |
