Talking Hofner 5000/1 Deluxe Violin Bass - German Made - Natural w/ Birds Eye Maple Back/Side

Hello,

I have an "As New Condition" 2005 German made Hofner 5000/1 Deluxe Violin Bass for sale. It is the all natural model with Birds Eye Maple back and sides, German Spruce top, ebony fingerboard with double Abalone dot inlays, and gold plated hardware. It comes with the factory original hard shell bullet case and hang tag. The original stings are on the bass and are a good as they were when I purchased the instrument. This baby is as light a feather and has that classic Hofner tone!

The neck is straight and the action is typical for a Hofner. I purchased the bass new from an authorized Hofner dealer. The bass has never been outside my home. I haven't played the bass much over the last few years so I figured it was time for my German friend, "Little Jimmie Hofner," to find a new home.

Thanks for taking the time to look!!

I am asking $2,000.00 (which includes shipping within the continental USA).

I’ve include several links you might find to be of value:

Thanks for taking the time to look!!

Beautiful bass!

What exactly "action is typical for a Hofner" means? I understand it's pretty high at the moment but could it be tweaked?

Talking Thank you for the compliment

I appreciate you taking notice!!

The action is higher than let's say a Gibson Thunderbirdbass, which has a neck-through construction that's made up of a 9-piece mahogany/walnut laminate. The action isn't high by Hofner standards. You just need to take into consideration the type of instrument it is and its construction. I own several new (2000) Hofners and they are all the same, even the older ones have the same kind of action. It really isn't that high. It's simply the nature of the instrument, and different when compared to instruments of alternate construction.

You're welcome! My quote got cut off as I was going to say that I'm doing good to be able to afford those 4 bass guitars the most expensive being the Hofner Icon at 380! No way I could every afford a gem like you have, and even if I could, I'd probably be afraid to play it anywhere!

That's the most beautiful Hofner I've ever seen. If I were not looking to pair down a bit, I'd love to own that bass. Good luck.

Thanks for the compliment!

And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and have a crack at trying to tune my bass using the McCartney technique...

...minus the cig of course.

Talking Where can you play a Hofner?

Hofners sound terrific in garden-like settings with no amplification.
