The "I-never-thought-I'd-sell-this" Sunburst RW/Geddy FrankenJazz!

Unfortunately, some vet bills have absolutely annihilated my bank account, and I am now essentially forced to choose between my bass or my pet. This bass is enough of a gem that it actually took some pretty serious debate...

Up for sale is a bass from just about everywhere. The body and reverse tuners are taken from a RoadWorn Jazz, while the neck and Badass II bridge came from a Geddy Lee signature model. The pickups are Duncan 1/4 pounders, and it's currently strung with some elixirs that have a few months of wear on them.

Unfortunately, I haven't played it much since my band broke up, so it could probably use a bit of a setup. It plays well enough now, but I also have a heavy touch. Nonetheless, I have found it to be an incredible bass; fairly light, although I have no home scale for a specific weight. Definitely lighter than any other fender I've owned.

You can hear it live through a DI box and PA here:

Also, depending on how well you like autographs, this bass comes with some pretty cool features... and one of my main reasons for not wanting to sell it in the first place. On the headstock, front and back, there are signatures from Victor Wooten, George Clinton, Steve Bailey, Jeff Rosenstock, and Jayne Cortez.

My hope is that I somehow find a thousand dollars under my couch cushions for these vet bills and don't have to sell this... since that's fairly unlikely, I'm asking for $675 shipped ConUS. Please do not hesitate to email with offers, including partial trades for budget basses, since I'd really prefer not to give up bass playing in the long-term.

This bass looks like it has some history with those autographs....I hope you can find a way to get some money without selling this!

Thanks! I do as well, but it seems unlikely at this point.

Possibly, I meet with her tomorrow. I've already spent about 800, and I'm on a payment plan for another 300. The surgery will likely be another 600-800, and I don't start my new job until next month, after I finish my degree.

That said, it's an emergency surgery, so my time to sort it all out is extremely limited.

cool song on the link. Is it origional? If so, is there a link for a studio version? The singer reminds me of Incubus kinda style....Anyway, nice bass... good tune!

Thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately, that band broke up before we could get down a studio version of that song. I'm still proud of it though, that's by far one of the most fun bass lines I've thought up.

Also, just to be clear--if you feel I'm asking too much and want to make a lower offer, don't hesitate!

note: I would also be willing to part it out and just sell the body/hardware if you don't want the neck.

I feel for you. I have a bass up now for the same reasons. The pets are worth it though. My cat in question is heaver than the bass but his neck is easy to play (with) GLWTS

Thanks for the well wishes! The cat in question is doing significantly better now than he was before, but my finances are still suffering.

This really is an amazing bass. I paid a little over $800 for it when I first bought it, and it gets an endless array of compliments on a regular basis. I would go so far as to say that there is no other similarly-priced bass on the boards right now that can compete with this in terms of sheer quality.

Hey man,

I've got a couple of basses I might be able to do a partial trade on. I don't have $675 but take a look and PM me with what you think. Hope you furry pal is doing a bit better.

FT/FS Ibanez RB690 and Yamaha BBN5

Awesome bass and awesome playing. I'd let you borrow a beater (ie. the only type of basses I have left nowadays) if you were any closer so you wouldn't be bassless after the sale...

Sorry for your pet. You won't regret your decision though.
