Ibanez GWB-2 Gary Willis fretted 5 F/S

Sign in to disble this ad
This is fairly rare as most GW's were flss, and it seems most were a darker finish.
It is the MIJ high end model as well, not to be confused with
the GWB35. It's in good condition but does have some scratches, nothing major.
Ash body
Ebony board
No changes- all original.
This thing has more burp than a pediatric ward, and the most whaaa I've ever had in a fretted bass. It plays very fast and
easy with low action. The B sounds good and tight.
It's a super-focused-articulate sounding bass. If you've heard Gary Willis play then you know what the aim of this bass is and it hits the mark.
I'm not interested in any trades except maybe a GWB-1 Flss in good condition.
1100- shipped CONUS.
Thanks for reading.
Fun:

Bump for a nice bass! I had a GWB35 and it was a very nice bass, I can only imagine how nice the real Japanese model is. Oh yeah, Mixbass is the man!

Ha, If I had the cash this one would be mine. I've got to take care of my amplification needs though,

Bump for this bass. I just picked up a fretless made in Japan - GWB-1 not too long ago.

I was at Bassplayer live and played a few very nice boutique basses and I kept thinking "man my GWB plays just as nice". If you want to pick up a very and I mean very high quality instrument for a real bargain price this is the way to go.

If I had the cash I'd pick this one up immediately, without hesitation.

Thanks henry2513! It's pretty amazing how good this plays and how tight it sounds.
I won't be the least bit bummed to keep it around. Like you I played some at NAMM quite awhile back and was taken by how great they play, even the 35's were fun to play.

Nice.

What is the string spacing at the nut and bridge?

I'm just out the door, I'll get it for you tomorrow afternoon.
I'd guess 17 ish at the bridge.

Spacing appears to be standard at 16.5 and nut width is 1.75.
