It is a modern sounding lightweight bass with an enormous range of sounds available; the thin neck allows for fast playing and effortless fretwork.
The active Bartolini preamp on the Sr-506 coupled with the passive humbucking Bartaloni MK-1 pickups gives this bass a wide tonal range.
The bass was professionally set up by Dennis Kager of Central Jersey Music has a low fast action.
It is currently strung with Rotosound flatwound swing 66 strings. This gives the bass a real nice thump and most importantly a nice tight low b string. I hate a floppy low b. Will also include a set of lightly used ernie ball slinkys.
This was a players bass- it was used but certainly not abused. It was my second bass ever and the first I purchased with my earnings from a summer job. I treated it VERY well. There's no belt rash/scratches through the finish but there are a few indents on the back- but there's still plastic on the access panel! There are a few other minor dents on the bottom of the bass that are barely worth mentioning imo and one that's a little deeper and should be noted. The neck is in perfect condition. There is some wear on the front of the bass... above the neck pickup where my thumb rest my finger wore away the top finish- and the same in between the neck and the neck pickup on the high C side, this is from "poppin" the higher strings. You will actually see the same thing on other used models or even the floor models at guitar center.
This is an excellent bass for someone thinking of getting into 6 strings, or looking for mid grade backup bass.
