Ibanez SR506 FS/FT--Great deal on 6er!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'd rather have a BEAD tuned 4 string for my current project, so I'm going to send my Ibanez SR506 to someone who can show it some love!

It plays as good as it sounds. Currently strung with DR Black Beauties and sporting a fashionable patch of flaked finish from my slapping, it looks pretty sexy too. See for yourself:

But wait! You can hear how it sounds too!

Improv Bass Warmup - YouTube

That was recorded going direct into my computer's poopy soundcard. You can hear the slap tone on this bad boy at about 2:00 in.

From Musician's Friend:
Thin, fast, 5-piece SR6 neck crafted of jatoba and bubinga
Sculpted mahogany body
Rosewood fretboard with 24 medium frets and oval abalone markers
B106 bridge
Bartolini MK1-6 neck pickup
Bartolini MK1-6 bridge pickup
Black chrome hardware with black pickups
Bartonini MK1 active 3-band EQ

More specs here as well:
Ibanez.com | Basses | SR506

I'd prefer to trade this. Looking for a more traditional looking and sounding bass--definitely a preference for a P-bass. A list of musts:
--4 strings
--Passive
--Black, Red, or Sunburst finish
--Thumpy Neck Pickup
--Able to handle B-E-A-D tuning without much hassle
A list of wants:
--Age and wear. If you've got a "players bass" that looks like it was hit by a few trucks in the early 80s but still plays/sounds like a dream, I'm interested.
--Ideal trades would include (but are not limited to): 1983-84 Squier MIJ P-Basses, 80's T-40s or P/J style knockoffs.

Sale-wise, I'd like $400+shipping $325 shipped! I would really prefer a trade or trade+cash, so don't expect any wiggle room on the outright sale price.

Bump, accepting reasonable offers! She's freshly set up, the Black Beauties sound great, and there's a fresh battery in her cavity!

Bump. Honestly surprised this is still here at this price.

EDIT: some more info from a question I was asked via PM!

The bass dates to '08 production, if I recall correctly. I purchased it used from the last owner, who babied it. I gigged with it regularly, so it's got a bit of wear on it. Conservatively, I'd put it at a 7.5 out of 10, but it's probably closer to an 8. At arm's lenth, the only visible marks are the slap-scuff and a small amount (1.3cm) of missing finish on the edge of the recessed jack.

It has dual Bartolini MK-1 pickups and the matching preamp. No scratchy pots, nothing loose, no weird little bizzare defects. I was gigging with this, so I always kept it in the best possible gigging shape as far as setup/electronics go.

I am making the bass sound like its in slightly worse shape than it actually is though. Whenever I sell an item on here, I make sure the buyer knows I'm willing to refund the money if they have to return the bass for some functional reason. I've got great feedback on here and I want to keep it that way!

Is my asking price too high? I feel like whenever I see these used, they sell for 400ish because they are incredible players!

No man, this is a good deal. Someone will catch it at some point, but I had to sell my 505 on ebay.. well one of them

Seems I keep going back to the SR series.
Good luck with the sell.
